If Nick Saban can make the following moves I think we will be one of the best teams in the NFL in years. Much better than the Patriots dynasty.

Sign a stable RT; Tom Ashworth.

This move puts alot of strength in our offensive line. Having Shelton at LT, James at LG, Hadnot at C, Carey at RT, and Ashworth at RT makes our offensive line look outstanding on paper. Plus with a coach like Houck, I don't think the line gelling is an issue - see last year's line.

Sign a middle caliber CB; Deshea Townsend.

Picking up a veteran like Townsend adds alot of talent, and knowledge in our defensive backfield. Coming from the Steelers this guy has alot of experience in a system much similar to our's, and his success is impressive enough to maintain a strong secondary without overpaying (ala Law, etc.).

Sign a stud LB; Julian Peterson.

It is safe to say this pickup is the most demanding. Everyone in the league wants a player like Peterson, but based on his past with Saban I feel we might have a hand up on alot of other teams. Picking up Peterson will solidify our LB corps for a few years to come (only needing a replacement for Thomas at MLB - Chad Greenway in the second?).

Draft a stud CB; Jimmy Williams.

I am really fearful Jimmy ends up in Atlanta - but like everyone else I can hope. This kid is a monster physically at 6'3" and 216 lbs. With 4.4 speed he can be a force at CB. The big question mark is if he can make it at CB in the NFL, but there is always the option to move him back to safety if he struggles. This kid makes big hits, and shows alot of football smarts (ideal for the 3-4 zone defense).

Draft a replacement MLB; Chad Greenway.

At one point Greenway was considered a 2nd/3rd round LB. But it appears as if his stock is rising greatly - which could make this just as much a dream as Williams. If we can get our hands on Greenway there is no way we pass him up. This kid will develop into a hell of a MLB awaiting his oppertunity to fill in Thomas' shoes.

Sign a Stud WR; Terrell Owens.

Right now this move seems unlikely, and is probably least important. With Chambers breakout year last year, and Booker's consistancy a WR is not a real focus. But if the other moves can be made, something like this should be focused on. Terrell is coming off of a terrible point in his career and isn't getting younger - but it is safe to say he is still one of the top 5 receivers in the league. If he can be attained at an affordable price I think Saban shouldn't think twice. But missing out on this one won't hurt us.

Anthony...what about the salary cap, and the fact that we dont have a 2nd rd. No way we can get all those players. Trust Saban and comp. they know what they are doing

With this our starting lineup could look like;

Offense
QB: Culpepper
HB: Williams, Brown
FB: Barnes (monster blocker), Morris (if we re-sign him, great athletic FB)
WR: T.O., Chambers, Booker, Welker, Campbell (if we go after him he could be a great #4/#5)
TE: McMichael, Johnson (this kid can be just as good as Randy)
LT: Shelton
LG: James
C: Hadnot
RG: Carey
RT: Ashworth

3-4 Defense
LE: Carter
RE: Holliday
NT: Traylor, Wright, Vickerson
OLB: Peterson, Taylor
MLB: Thomas, Crowder
CB: Townsend, Daniels (unless moved to safey), Poole (unless moved to safety), Williams (if we can attain him in the draft)
S: Shulters, Poole (if moved from corner), Daniels (if moved from corner), Bell

I think two big question marks are if Poole and Daniels stay at corner or are moved to safety. This would be dependant on which area looks weaker - safety or corner? I think with the acquisitions of Townsend and Williams I would have no problem seeing one of them move to safety to play along side Shulters. Have both compete and have the better man for the job make the move.

This team looks frightening, but of course alot of this (T.O., Williams, and Greenday) could very likely not happen. Then there are more question marks at players like Peterson, Ashworth, and Townsend.

There are question marks around whether Peterson is the same player he was before his injury.

Greenway is an outside linebacker and he is first rounder.

Lots of trust in Saban. This is jsut my ideal dream. The second round pick was something I forgot to consider in the drafting of Greenway - because I am not sure if it is this year's or next year's. I have not heard a definate answer from a reliable source.

The salary cap may be an issue, especially in players like T.O., etc. That is where you prioritize needs. I think this is nearly attainable.

There are question marks on Peterson, but I feel there will be little lose in his talent. The guy has blossomed on a weak team, in a weak system. Under Saban I believe Peterson can excell.

As for Greenway at 6'2" and 242 lbs he can comfortable move to the MLB position. Moving in, is easier than out. One of my major concerns is his lack of strength and ability to shed blocks - but that was always one of Thomas' weakness, so I welcome him with open arms. But will he make it the 19th pick of the second round (if we even keep that pick), probably not.

Leon Williams is a good project in the later days of the draft for MLB. I question his ability to start in the NFL though.

When was Greenway considered a 2nd/3rd round LB? He was considered a top 10 draft pick up until the combine. His measurables were less than impressive and has caused his stock to slip a bit, but will still probably be picked somewhere in the middle to late 1st round.

Again, Peterson's abilities seem to have declined after his injury.

Greenway will play outside in the NFL, not inside.

Funny, I remember a few months ago he was regarded as a mid to late second rounder, possible third rounder. Wasn't until he had a monster season his stock soared. I think with the recent combine numbers he could slid again, but it is unlikely.

Peterson is just as much a question mark as Brees or Culpepper. The dude is a great LB, and will continue to be one of the league's best.

Greenway could easily move to MLB, if he can get his strength up. I think where he plays is based on the team that drafts him. The ideal question marks being the teams' need, defensive line in front of him, and system (3-4 vs. 4-3).

There is a sizable difference between a QB coming back from knee injury and a blitzing Linebacker.

No one is going to spend a first rounder on Greenway, who is a natural 3-4 outside backer with the intention of moving him inside.

I think there is a think called the salary cap which may get in the way, and Greenway falling to us in the 2nd is the totally out of the question he may not even reach us in the 1st!

This is only assuming we ALWAYS use the 3-4. I like your ideas buddy but i think your being a little unrealistic. Theres no way we can get all those guys and still be under cap... just not possible.
