Without looking from in house, like Tannehill, improving are we better than before? My opinion on the changes.

OL- We replace Satele and Colledge with Pouncey and Turner. Should be better and then there is Dallas. For now, I see it as a wash, and will be better if healthy.

TE- Cameron may work out but, I prefer Clay. Worse

WR- Wallace and Hartline vs Stills and Matthews. Worse but, not by a huge margin.

DL- Suh and AJ, etc. vs Odrick and Starks. Better

S- Delmas vs ? Worse

CB- Finnegen vs ?. Worse.

Overall, close to the same. So far.

What about LB?

After the draft, we can answer the question. It is too early.

We had to unload all those bad deals.

We are miles better...just the fact that we now have a FO with a clue......finally

Right now I would say our defense is way better and offense is worse. Draft will be huge for us

I feel like we have been doing a whole lot of replacing and not much addition. Is it bad? No, but we still have holes in the same places as we did when free agency started. The cap situation for the future has improved...so I say we have done very good work in preparing for the future (aka, signing the guys on our team who are going to demand big money). We also signed Suh, so that is a pretty big deal, it makes building the defense a much easier task than it was before.

I wouldn't say we are better, but we put ourselves in position to easily be better down the line.....and I still think this team right now is a playoff contender if we do well in the draft.

Jordan Cameron is the best skill player this team has had on offense in a while. Suh is the best player this team has had on defense in... a long time.

Gotta look at what we lost, vs what we replaced it with, but I certainly think there is more talent on paper. We'll see.

Still a long way to go in FA and then we have the draft plus a chance to pick up players that are cut after that.

OL If they get a decent starting right guard in the draft or a FA it goes from wash to much better.

TE What if they resign Clay as well ? Then it goes to much better after adding Cameron.

WR I think Stills replaces Wallace but Hartline's replacement with be a high WR pick say Parker. Now this goes to much better.

DL agree

S Delmas may still be signed so that's a fall back but maybe a draft pick or FA comes in to start opposite Jones then this goes to better.

CB If we don't go WR maybe we draft one early. Taylor is the fall back position. Maybe better after it's all over.

LB Still need a Mike to make it better.

The grade so far is still incomplete but it's early in the process so I'm optimistic all these positions will eventually be upgraded.

suh is going to help us hide some of the weak spots on defense.

LB is the same, and it is early which is why I said so far.

We have replaced quantity with quality at DT, WR and TE.
At the other positions, we have cut solid players and we are still waiting to find out who will replace them.
Overall, I am very happy with the changes.
It isn't perfect, but I like the direction and the decisiveness in FA.

At LB, with Ellerbee and Wheeler gone, it isn't the same. We are looking at Misi, McCain, Tripp, and (The other guy-name escapes me from last year)
Not sure we are finished there. We should be in the market for a stud MLB and back up players at the minimum.
This area is the most concerning to me IMHO

I think we have improved upon both lines but that is where the positivity stops for me.

1) I don't like having to replace Wallace with Stills.
- people seem to forget that Wallace had more touchdowns last year than Stills does in his entire career.
- While Wallace is overpaid for what he is, he was still very productive and our offense will miss him.
- Our receiving core is now Landry, Stills, and Matthews. That has to be one of the weakest in the league, we better not be done.

2) As of right now our #1 TE is a former pro-bowler but will go down at some point with injury
- this is becoming a trend with our signings of taking a risk on a previous injury riddled player (ie. Moreno, Delmas) and so far the track record is fairly predictable outside of Grimes

3) Our secondary still needs a Safety and a Cornerback opposite Grimes

4) Our offensive line is counting on 2 guards who are both going to be unproven at the NFL level

If we re-sign Clay I will change my opinion on the off-season as a 2 TE set is ideal for Tannehill. It would allow him to get the ball out much faster on shorter routes and will also open up the running game.

I also like that we are giving D. Williams the back-up role as RB(at least that's how I see it). He has great hands and good vision and I want to see more of him.

Hickey has really nailed the UDFA he brought in last year and building quality depth through the draft. I hope he is the one in full control come draft day as with Clay hopefully back and a new crop of rookies we have the chance to sniff the playoffs this year.

In short, my overall view of the off-season is much the same way as a lot of our moves right now.....confusing. Could go either way yet, but we aren't even close to done.

P.S. Watch out for Anthony Johnson this year at Defensive Tackle, he is going to open some eyes. That is my pick for this years Jelani Jenkins

We still have the same head coach and still have the same defensive coordinator and still have the same philosophy... so I predict pretty much the same results as last year..

Currently worse, we will need to hit in the draft. We have no alpha receiver. No big body end zone threat. Cameron is injury prone (Keller 2.0).

Better because a lot of the players that we lost had one foot out the door anyways. Older, declining or expensive.

Obviously still work to do, but this week has been very impressive.
