So was he as horrible this week as he was week1. I know people have been on his *** after that first game, but he overcame a challenge week 2. Thoughts from Long haters.

Long had a decent game. He kept Freeney at bay, with alot of help from Smiley and/or a TE.
Plus we rushed for 240, so you gotta give the entire O-line some credit there.

Jake got the job done last night. It looks like Jake and Justin Smiley might make a good tag team like in WWF wrestling if they keep working together. Smiley was there to backup Jake when Dwight Freeney was doing his spin moves and all that. Lets hope they get better and better as the season goes on. They work as a unit like in the army a lot of the time you know. They're not always in one on one situations. Dwight Freeney is definitely a guy that needs to be double teamed sometimes ... no matter how good your left tackle is.

Jake was much better against a Pro Bowl DE. footwork still needs a bit work but he'll be fine.... looks like the extra work after practice payed off for him

LOL Long was so good that he fell on his a$$ a number of times...

He needed the TE and Smiley chipping on Freeney to help him. He got owned on multiple plays.

Good thing we invested a number one overall pick in a LT that can't do the ONE thing that you draft a LT first overall to do... protect your QB's blind side against the other teams elite pass rushers.

If we are going to chip then Carey could have accomplished the same thing at a fraction of the cost.

Um, do you REALLY expect a 2nd year LT to hold DWIGHT FREENEY at bay by himself for the whole game? Really?

Well, I'm just gonna go smash my head into a brick wall, apparently, I've forgotten how football works.

blow

as long as freeney doesn't get the sack and the QB has room to step up who cares if the LT hits the turf once in awhile - the sack was on Penny

You have shamed both Eddie and Iron Maiden with such a dumb post. I hope you're happy!

dude, man I am so sick of your biased non-game watching comments. Jake Long played very well Monday night. I was at the game, unlike you, and watched him alot handle Freeney's best spin and swim moves. You and your gosh i wish we had Matt Ryan spins are really getting old, and pretty much useless!:err:

LOL ok.. If you are telling me that Long handled Freeney than god bless you.

Something I think has been overlooked was how long the oline played for. I kept hearing all night how exhausted the Colt's defense had to be, but our oline had to be just as tired. Very impressive that they were able to protect Penny and open holes for as many minutes as they did. Great conditioning was evident last year by lack of injuries and it looks like this year will be no different.

Yes that is what we expect. Walter Jones, Jonathon Ogden, and a slew of top tackles have done it.

The Fins rolled their protections to the left such that Smiley was doubling up on Freeney with Long. Long could not get it done on his own and the coaches knew it - so they called protections to bail the left side out.

Long fell down numerous times and looked to have poor footwork on other occasions. I don't know what is wrong with the guy, but he is not playing like a #1 tackle should.

hate to admit it but i wasn't impressed with Long last night either. Abraham & Freeney ARE elite however and Long is barely into his second year.
