ie only 2 years, so I don't know as much about things as I'm sure yall do. Apparently most people on here would like to use our #1 pick this year on a WR, which we certainly need with Ginn not being the answer we hoped he'd be. But with Ferguson nearing the end of his career, would we not want to take a big DT (like Terrance Cody) first? Receivers are what they are, but truly elite DTs are not nearly as commonplace. Do yall think we should use the first pick on a big time receiver (like Dez Bryant) or go defense? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

no its not a dumb question. I personally think DT/NT but i dont know about cody. Hes just too fat and while that might work in college, hes gonna need to get in better shape if hes going to be dominant in the pros.

I guess the it will all depend on who is available when we pick.

I actually think Cody may slip to the second round. In a way he is similar to Gabe Watson, who was projected as a top 20 pick through much of the process but then dropped to the 4th round due to conditioning/weight issues. I don't expect Cody to fall that far, but I wouldn't be overly surprised if he was there when the Dolphins were picking in the 2nd. As far as what the Dolphins will do with their first pick, I'd guess linebacker.

I don't like Cody personally, I would like to see mayby Gerald McCoy from Oklahoma or a Joe Joesph out of Miami from a later round.

I don't think we should draft a DT, I would like to see us pick up a safety or LB, both positions can cover the run if need be and plus, there are tons of great DT's on struggling teams that we can trade for, Glenn Dorsey for example. And if you notice, The best defenses in the league have those 2 positions filled: Ravens with Ed Reed and Ray Lewis. . . Pittsburgh with Polamalu, Harrison and Farrior. Not to rip on Crowder or Porter, but Crowder can't really pass cover too well, and Porter may as well be a DE. We need full on run stoppers.

I'd like a great Safety to compliment our 2 awesome rookie corners.

You could definitely argue that WR and NT are our two biggest needs. The problem with NT's is that they are few and far between nowadays with so many teams running some form of a 3-4. As of now the general consensus is that Cody is the best true nose tackle prospect this year, but his weight and conditioning are huge concerns. We've definitely play are ways out of the Suh sweepstakes, many people felt he could transition to the nose in the NFL. He'll be long gone by the time we pick now.

As one of the biggest Ted Ginn critics on this board, I would be thrilled to see us draft a real WR and move ole stone hands/giant vagina to full time return duties. I love Bess and Camarillo, but they'll only hurt you five yards at a time. This isn't a particularly strong WR class unfortunately. Dez Bryant will likely be the first guy taken despite his dismissal, and rightfully so...he's a beast. Other than that, Mardy Gilyard has really impressed me. As have the two WR's from Notre Dame (Tate and Floyd), but I don't think either are Seniors and would have to declare early.

That is not going to happen. Not with that type of career Cody has put together at Alabama. The first team with a 3-4 defense and in need for a NT will draft him, could be the 49ers, Steelers, or Dolphins. The Chiefs need one, too, but won't draft DL three consecutive years. The Broncos could use a NT as well, but handed their 2010 first-rounder to Seattle for a bag of magic beans.

Rolando McClain!!!! Trade up if you have too!!!!

I think the general consensus is Bill Parcells DOES NOT take WRs in the first round. What I'd like to know if it's all Parcells decision or if it's up to Ireland. Maybe Ireland would shock us and go the WR route but I honestly don't think so.

We'll take a WR in the second round and a Defensive playmaker in the first.

I don't understand why people say this

Terry Glenn
Keyshawn Johnson
Mark Ingram

All 1st round picks and all selected by Parcells

BP did not select Keyshawn. He inherited him. If you remember, Johnson was the #1 overall pick. Can you imagine BP selecting a WR with the #1 overall pick?

No. Cody is not worth a 1st round draft pick. There are plenty of good Nt prospects to be had in later rounds. I have enough faith in Soliai (who's been better in run support than Ferguson according to PFF) to think we have bigger needs than NT (LB and WR). If anything we need a LB, preferably McClain or Jerry Hughes. I'd rather look to round 2 for a WR (Tate or LaFell) personally.

I personally would like to see us go to a 4-3, as our personnel is better suited for it.

we mos def need a nt before a wr, he is more important, as go our nt, then goes the rest of the defense, anytime you have one dlineman occupying 2 blockers it makes it easier to put pressure on the qb, wr you could have almost anybody, the only bad with wr's they cannot catch a cold

And Parcells didn't want to draft Terry Glenn, that's where the whole "If I'm cooking the meal, I should be buying the groceries" started.

Not sure who was calling the shots when the Giants drafted Ingram, so I can't comment on that.

As for the original topic, personally I'd rather focus on ILB and FS before NT for this upcoming draft.

i personally think we'll go LB in the 1st rd,then NT somewhere between the 2nd to 5th rds...maybe we can get an extra 2nd rd pick and grab both a WR and LB in that round, then NT,FS,and Interior OL in the rest of the rds...
