So...kyler Murray Has Declared. What Does Everyone Think?

w grants stills and Wilson and murry. we would have fast team. that could cause problems for lot of defense. 9-7 or 10-6. how many 6 feet and taller qb have fail in nfl??? a lot

I would love it.
Would be great to have a qb that when the play is broken down or nobody is open just take off. He has wheels. Seems like qbs do that to us all the time. We have great coverage and boom. They run for 15 yards. Murray would open up ever thing and we would be forgetting the tank talk.

That's the wrong question.

The question is, how big, on average, were the most successful QBs?

Make a list of top 30 (or however many you care to research), list their size. Do it honestly, and see what you come up with.

I think that is a rational approach.

I haven't done it on paper, but my guess would be the "average" size of an "elite" (or even very good) QB is over 6'2", and weighs in excess of 220 lbs.

That is why his size is very concerning to many ppl. Odds are not in his favor, and if you trust a "gut feeling" over mathematical statistics, the casinos will pick u up at the airport in a limo.

Heck of an athlete and heck of an arm but he's too small to play QB in the NFL.

Russel Wilson and Drew Brees are the exception not the rule when it comes to height and they are both a few inches taller and quite a bit heavier than Murray.

I don't love him as a prospect. But if he's there at 13 taking a flier on him wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. If it hits it probably hits big and is a franchise changing pick. I'm not betting on that happening, but I can see the logic.

I think he chose the wrong sport...I love football but baseball is guaranteed money, regardless of injury, football is a thankless sport that who's career is over in a blink of an eye...that's just my 2 cents...
Baseball is safer but he was only guaranteed 4.66 million with A's.

Last year Mayfield signed for 32 mil with 21 mil signing bonus. Rosen was drafted 10th and signed a 17.5 mil fully guaranteed contract.

Not sure he would
ever be the type of homerun hitter to make 20-25 mil per year. If his game transitions to the NFL he stands to make much more playing football than baseball.

You gotta be able to hit on
I hear you and disagree with you @13. My thinking is simply the QB position, more than any other, is one you take a serious "chance" on. If you're willing to take a chance on Murray at 13 then why wait and hope he drops to you?

Go up and get him! Because the worst thing, IMO, is to wait and he gets selected by someone else and goes on to be great. Going up and gettting him and he turns out to be bad isn't nearly as bad as the other scenario.

Of course, this is all predicated on you've done your due diligence on the player.

For me, as much as he wows me, I can't defend trading up for any player. Maybe, maybe a spot or 2 at the right price.

Obvious statement coming- we need all of our picks because we have sooo many holes.

I also can't justify not taking a QB that falls right upon our laps.

Did you see that speed? My God, I'm fantasizing as I type of rolling him out, that run/pass option, what it might do for Drake, how it will assist a shaky OL.

I know what Belicheat will do, though. He'll just blitz even the kitchen sink at th kid, forcing quick decisions, disrupting the option, kill his DEs if they so much as break contain once, neutrilizing the roll out. That's why I wish I could see tape of him constantly under pressure.

Wow that was long-winded. Sorry. Any way, IMO, too expensive for us for a big move up. Too much talent to pass up. Instant trade down for another #1 and change.

Exactly, and well stated.

Careful, some here will call you blasphemous......lol

He just doesn't "translate" well to the NFL. Is it possible that he could go to the HOF? Sure, it's "possible".

History is not on his side.

it was not on brady side. you will never know until he put on pad. dolphins have been burn a lot. I do nt know how good or bad this young man go be in nfl but I would hate to see this guy beat us on sunday.

:lmfao:

I don’t know if my current fascination with Murray has more to do with his talent, or the past 20 years or so of watching the Dolphins.

I feel the same way. I'm not sure if I'm trading prototype for risk simply because I'm so THIRSTY.

“According to Jeff Passan of ESPN.com, Murray will repay $1.29 million of the $1.5 million he previously received in the form of a signing bonus from the A’s. Murray forfeits the remaining $3.16 million, and the A’s will continue to hold his rights.

That last part is significant. No matter what Murray says about being all-in with football, he continues to have an escape hatch to baseball, if he’s not drafted high enough or if he’s drafted by a team for which he doesn’t want to play. Murray made it clear during a visit to PFT Live before the Super Bowl that he won’t use the threat of playing baseball as leverage to be drafted at a certain level or by a certain team or teams. However, nothing prevents him from deciding after the dust settles that, while he’s committed to football, football apparently isn’t committed to him.”

It's not his height but his weight that is concerning. If he learns to protect himself its possible he will do very well.

I've done some research and if you ask me he is a better prospect than Josh Allen and maybe Josh rosen and they were first rounders.

The illusion created by the NFL is that prototype quarterbacks are the only ones available and they can be fixed. There is nothing that says Murray can't be fixed and be a Russel Wilson caliber player.

If someone like a Josh Allen can't achieve anything of substance in college then it is fair that Murray is also and early pick.

I will not be getting my hopes up though, New coaching staffs are apprehensive of selecting a quarterback without their vision in place. I would not blame them for passing

I am fully onboard and willing to trade up to make it happen . . . .but the 2020 first is off the table. Everything else is fair game.

I think the sweet spot for trading up might be the 8th pick as you probably won’t strike a trade with Buffalo at 9 and Denver is a legit threat to take him at 10.

Then again he probably goes top 5.

Not sure if we can get him, but I would love him here.

Gosh, man, but what if he's the exception on another team?

I hear yah loud and clear. He may be killed by week 2.

I'll say this, though- yah gotta catch him first :chuckle:

Wait, Did you just write you "can't defend trading up for ANY player?"

Was that a typo?
