All of those guys are out there waiting to be hired. They are all looking for DC, not HC positions. All of those guys are (at least in my humble opinion) far superior defensive minds to Kevin Coyle, and our wonderful braintrust has shown zero interest in replacing Coyle, who sucked out loud last year.... Sigh... Why? Good God, ****ing why???

I think Joe wants to be known as "loyal" in league circles so that when he is off to his next job he is not known as selling out his coaches.

Philbin is so clueless it makes me physically ill. We will never be a playoff team as long as he's head coach and Ross is the owner.

This should not be a surprise to anyone because if it was up to Philbin, Mike Sherman would still be our OC.

Love to have Spagnola.

Guys, who remembers the Marino years? We may have had the worst DC in franchise history for about 10 or so of those years. Yet Shula stuck with him and it played a big factor in us not winning a SB. Hopefully we just have to endure one more year of Coyle and he'll go back to coaching CBs somewhere.

Philbin is the definition of an incompetent coach. He didn't realize how bad Sherman sucked last year and wanted to quit when the rug was pulled out from under Sherman. How can he not see that Coyle is garbage???

Not to get on you OP, but who in the hell is going to come work for Joe Philbin?

Remember 2011 when Sparano was in the same situation and we were looking at OC's, we literally had to settle for Brian Daboll because nobody else was taking that job. Remember last year when we were looking for a GM . . . Hickey was like the 7th guy on the list . . . . big named GM's weren't coming here with having to settle for Philbin as the coach.

You can't pull a big fish if you got **** for bait on the line.

If he fires Kevin Coyle, I guarantee he can't get a guy better than him as a replacement. No big name coach is coming here to work under Joe.

I said in another thread, if something seems to make perfect sense, expect us to do the opposite.

Philbin is a complete walking zombie. He is like a robot with no emotion or concern. He frustrates the hell out of me.

The day he gets fired I am going to throw a party.

Thank you for not speaking the name that must not be spoken.

I seem to remember a highly sought after offensive coordinator named Bill Lazor who decided to work for Joe Philbin just last year. I guess you blocked that one out.

Here is the difference . . . . Lazor was a QB coach who was only an OC at the college level. People are expecting guys, former head coaches in some instances, long time proven NFL DC's, to come in and work under Joe Philbin . . . a lame duck head coach with a 2011 Sparano extension. Guys like Lazor that take any opportunity that will help further their career . . . big name DC's are looking for opportunities to to cement their careers . . . they have already accomplished things that a guy like Lazor can only hope to accomplish.

A comparable name would of been Gary Kubiak, who was a perfect fit for the offense and a proven OC/HC. He went to the Ravens instead.

All things considered, it was a good hire by the Dolphins, but that is a completely different scenario than wanting a proven DC to work under Joe Philbin.

honestly, the defense was good...really good last year and the first half of this year. Nothing says the defense can't be really good again next year with coyle. Just need to work on the LBer's, get a big DT, and a CB/S.
