Seriously, do we have anyone on the roster with half the talent as JT or other top DEs/OLB in the league? Don't say JP because he's not guaranteed a roster spot regardless of cap hit in the kingdom of Lord Parcells.

I called Bill, he wanted to know how our defense did last year?:sidelol:

JT will be there in September because we will not get a trade offer worth his value. JT will then show up to play the season so he can collect half of the 17 million he is has left on the remaining two years of his contract. The upside is he would have to put up big numbers to attract good teams to trade for him and resign him for another 2 or 3 years. As much as I hate whats going on he should be a beast on the field once he learns the defense.(week 3 or 4)

won't be losing too much sleep over it, hopefully jt comes back, but if he doesnt there's no reason to fret over it, it is what it is

he should be here next year. don't think this situation would have gotten to this point if parcells was really shopping him that hard.

Thanks for a reply with substance jvw. As far as big picture, my thing is BP went about this offseason with the assumption that JT will be here. Everyone knew the situation might turn ugly especially after Zach was sent packing. So why not have a contingency plan - draft/sign a true pass rusher?

joey porter and hopefully philip merling.

and we did try to get calvin pace, but were unsuccessful in outbidding the lunatic jests.

Joey Porter, this might force us to put merling at OLB.

I'm not sure how signing and or drafting 4 or 5 d lineman is "going about the offseason with the assumption that JT will be here." As for a pure pass rusher, they did what they reasonably could given the unknowns, plus it's not like there's a Dominating Sack Masters-R-Us store to just run down and pick one off the shelf.. Hopefully one of the drafted de's show that promise. I think BP et al went through most of the offseason with the assumption they couldn't count on JT being here.

Joey Porter is our rushing OLB, you have to include him the equation.. He was starting today in minicamp. Porter did fine in the 2nd half of last year. I'd expect 8 sacks from him this year, nothing special but he'll put pressure on the QB.

I am begining to think JT & his agent probably began asking for the trade sometime in February or March, and the FO said we will try to shop you (reluctantly) and set a high price tag purposefully a la the Bengals. The exception being originally JT, his agent & the Fins FO handled it with class. The contingency plan was done mostly through Free Agency. Plus lots of our DT's in a 3-4, can play end in a 4-3. Of course not with JT's talent.

To finish a thought. When no trade was worked out, the Fins are sticking to their guns. Now this puts it right back in JT's lap, and could possibly tarnish his new Hollywood image. Though it hurts with trading leverage for the Fins BIG TIME, it now puts JT in a spot to admit he made these demands and look bad or admit that he got his feelings hurt by BP. Either way he may come across as another spoiled athlete.
