In Nick Saban's press conference today, Nick pretty much stated that he is only considering two QBs to start and I think he also revealed the reason Gus is starting for Saturday's game - 3rd down conversions. I'm not sure what the stats are for the first two games but it does seem to me that that is definitely one area Gus has outplayed AJ. Hey AJ, I think Saban just told you what it takes to impress him Saturday. Anyway here's the quote from the press conference to which Im referring too.

On if there are concerns about the quarterbacks getting the ball to the receivers) – “They get it to them everyday. I have a concern about everything. I have a concern that we’ll jump offside. I have a concern, will we pass protect well enough? Will we play good enough in the red area? Will we score touchdowns? I don’t have any concerns about our quarterbacks. They are what they are. We are going to coach them to do what they can do in the game and we should be productive in what we do if we execute together as a team. They’re both capable of doing t.â€Â

It's still early in the preseason. If Gus/AJ continue to struggle, and Sage/Brock continue to do well, it'd be stupid not to see if those two should be given a chance to start in the last 2 games or so.

Maybe, but it seems from his comment that Saban isnt really considering that option. How did you read that comment?

i still Think Aj has a chance at #1 and Rosenfels and Berlin will either battle for 3rd or Berlin will be cut

- I don't think Saban has shown any Wanny patterns so far , so why wouldn't he strongly consider going with the best QB on the roster? If Sage ( in particular ) continues to play well this week and Gus & AJ play average.

If that scenario plays out maybe. It just seems after what he said that as of now he's not even considering that option

Doubt it. He may not be the best QB on the roster but he could easily contribute if needed to. If nothing else, he has chemistry and experience with the starting team which already gives him an edge over Rosenfels and Berlin.

I wouldn't take his press conferences seriously, remember that Saban doesn't let people know what he will do. Example: In the draft everyone knew we would get Brown but Saban still convinced the media that we were selecting either Smith or Edwards. Don't read too much into that

Or he could be tricking people into thinking he's trying to trick them. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if Brock continues to perform and Gus/AJ struggle.
