Saban is the man. Every move this guys does is amazing. For once we haven't signed a FA that I questioned. Rebuilding the DL and drafting that way as well. I read on another website where someone in the media asked Saban about Ronnie Brown, and Saban laid it all out. He said something to the fact that he will not talk about Ronnie Brown until he is a member of this football team. That he has guys busting their buts in camp working hard and tring to make themselves successful. Those are the only guys he will talk about because they deserve it. Once Ronnie decides to do that he won't talk about him. That is a coach!! Wanny would stand there and scratch his chin dancing around it, Saban is just blunt and to the point.

i think saban / phins should offer r. brown lots less $ than he wouldve if he didnt hold out. there should be a penalty for being disloyal.

I am sure Saban has that already taken care of. He seems like a smart man because with Ricky here it might cost Ronnie some money. Sounds as if Ricky is doing great and not as far as some had thought from where he was. Ronnie would have a lot more wiggle room if Ricky wasn't here. I don't think Saban will screw him but using Ricky to drive donwn the finance charge to bring Ronnie to camp is a great way to speed up honest offers to get this done quickly so it doesn't drag on and Ronnie waste a season.

This type of thinking to me is no good. Ronnie Brown is not being disloyal, i'd be willing to bet the Phins front office knows what it'll take to sign him, but are waiting for the Williams/Benson to sign. I hate that the players are always blamed for holdouts, when NFL contracts are not guranteed. TO does deserve a better contract, as does Walker. Ronnie Brown will not get less than what the 2nd pick deserves to get. I'm a Phinfan, and I think Saban was a good hire, but let's realize this, Ronnie Brown needs to be the starting RB for the Phins week 1. Lamar Gordon is not starting caliber, IMO, and we really don't know what to expect from Ricky, so I disagree with the Ronnie Brown "hatewagon," that seems to have been started because he has not signed. Ronnie Brown needs to become the face of the franchise, if people want to see the Phins succeed this year. I could understand if fans don't believe the Phins will be a contender this year, like I think, but he was the 2nd pick in the draft and he needs to be an elite RB. I don't believe RB's have value early in the draft, and it's laughable to me, that while I would take Ronnie Brown right now over Aaron Rodgers, because of Rodgers and how far he fell, but there was ALOT of posts on this site about how drafting a Qb would cause for holdouts. If Ricky did not return there would be a much bigger sense of urgency to sign him, but Ricky won't be there for the first 4 games, so the team needs to sign Ronnie.

if you want a good insight into how Saban works as a coach, go buy "How Good Do You Want to Be" written by him. It will definitely pump you up about the future of Dolphins football

Thinking about getting that book. Who else has read it?

The Phins have some leverage. RB is not a dire need, now that RW is back.Let's say the Phins stick to their guns and RB's agent tries to play hardball and he threatens to hold him out the entire season, so that he could re-enter the draft next season.
Does anyone really think that RB will be taken in the top 5? I don't think so.
RB's value right now, is as high as it will ever be, due to the lack of top end prospects this past draft. If his agent is smart and he will make a deal now.
