so now that we have no bargaining chip with the falcons...

Chris Long..since apparently we are going to trade JT I would take Chris Long.

Although I was very high on Chris Long (and still am) I would have to say Jake now because of all the defensive signings today

How do you figure McCown has never been anything special can you say stop gap. I think now we can go in any direction either Longs,Ryan, Or D Mac. The tuna knows what he is doing

What has changed to give us less leverage with the Falcons? I don't think it was ever overly likely, but what is so different as of today?

My pick is Jake Long btw. High probability of success and a position of need. Plus, he's just a heck of a tackle.

Though I think Gholston may be the guy from this draft that everyone clamors about in 2-3 years.

yep if anything all these signings now help us. the people that we could take that could influence a trade: Ryan (falcons), C. Long (Raiders), DMac ('Boys) all now make more sense than that previously did.. well maybe not as much Chris long, but i doubt the raiders would have traded for him anyway. So I see it as it highly possible that our top ranked players are only Jake Long and Matt Ryan, which must worry atlanta. 50/50 chance they don't get their guy if they don't trade.. do it atlanta! send us some picks!

Exactly... I was reading this trying to figure out what exactly we did today to hurt our chances (though already slim) to trade with Atlanta. If anything, this just adds to the the confusion of who we may or may not take.

I love it... the last two HC's said they were going to rebuild this team and it never happened.... Parcells has been here for a couple months and already a fifth of this team is completely changed! By the time the Draft is here and gone, we're going to have 40% of a brand new team... now THAT is rebuilding.

This changes nothing... We could still take Long, Long, Ryan, heck even McFad... Any one only makes us stronger on that side of the ball... The one position lacking in all this FA activity is the DB's. After this, I'd love to see us trade down and get DRC in the middle of the 1st along with whatever other picks we get.

The good thing is, since we DIDN'T bring in anyone who commands top dollar, we've got PLENTY of space to sign someone if we do stay at number 1 without fear of a holdout.

Its a disaster to be picking number 1. I pray we never have to go through this ever again

The very fact that Ireland attempted to sign Pace makes me think it's down to Ryan or Jake Long.

Yeah, I also don't feel that the signing of McCown hurt us with any trade talks with Atlanta. If anything, I'd be a little more nervous if I were them. We just proved today that we are not 100% set on our QB situation and just may take a QB in the draft and have McCown run the offense until someone else is ready. Also, we've talked to OL, DL, LB's, RB's . . . . . . . . so no team behind us should feel 100% safe at what we'll take or not take. BP and Co. have a lot of teams wondering what we are going to do next. Hopefully that confusion continues all the way up to the draft.

I agree the mccown signing has little to no bearing on a potential trade with atlanta.

I am more interested in the pace signing. IF we lock this guy up, we are probably going some kind of offense with the draft if we stay at #1.
if thats the case I would hope the pick would be jake long as well.
