"You guys know what my record was down there? Pull out the books. We won....They didn't care," Wannstedt said of South Florida fan base.

"That's tough. I used to get dejected at Pitt when we had 35,000 there. That's tough!" Wannstedt said when talking about UM's fan support.

Dave Wannstedt went HAM on @560WQAM today. Jaw dropping, but truest words haven't been spoken in a while.

Some people get defensive when they talk about the fan base but the rest of the country has noticed.

:sidelol:

Dave Wannstedt, folks. The guy who ended Dan Marino's career, was such a bad coach that Ricky Williams quit to go smoke weed instead of sacrificing his body for the guy anymore, and squandered JJ's great defensive drafts with horrible coaching and even worse personnel decisions.

And he has the nerve to complain that the fans didn't support him enough?

Un. Be. Lievable.

On TV our stadium looked fuller than I ever remember it. Unfortunately for the Dolphins I think half of them were Packers fans. Good for Ross though.

I guess he's talking just in case time has caused anybody in Florida to forget just how stupid he is.

Anybody remember that site firedavewannstedt.com? I used to always enjoy going there during the season for the latest Wanny photoshops.

He was a bad coach and horrible at drafting but he has a point.

The man speaks the truth. Obviously not a great coach but did a good job in Miami.

Yawn. Gotta get back to watching paint dry.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a clear case of Dave understanding full well the implications of why he's being interviewed today?

You know, because the first pro franchise that he completely ruined is playing the other pro franchise that he completely ruined?

:ponder:

how did he ruin either franchise?

So the fans did not come out when he was here. I guess somebody made up averaging over 72,000 fans in 2001. I think Wannstadt is suffering from early amnesia. Maybe if he had not ignored the qb position and drafted one he mght still have a damn job. As for the fan issue Dave don't let the truth get in the way of your argument.

You pretty much read my mind. I've never hated a coach of either of my teams (Dolphins or Devils) more than Wannschmuck. I'm glad I didn't hear the interview, I probably would've had an aneurysm.

That's like Hitler complaining about the lack of Jewish people in post-war Germany...

The tailspin that began with Wanny's tenure and mismanagement is one of the main reasons the local fanbase has dwindled so much over the years.
