So we are going through another loooong rebuild

You need a quarterback first. We might have that with Ewers. Otherwise we need to draft him. And based on where we pick this year, that's a 2027 move.

We need 2-3 starting wide receivers

We need a starting tight end

We need a future running back to replace Achane after he's traded

We need multiple offensive linemen.

And that's just offense.

You can't get all of that within two years, especially with year one being completely devoid of free agent moves because of the cap issues.
The Patriots went 4-13 back to back seasons then made the Superbowl. If we get the QB and HC right and JES knows what he is doing then it doesn't take as long as you think.

I’m all for giving Ewers the 2026 season. But he has a long way to go and a lot to prove before I count him as a solid starter.
I agree, and more likely than not he is not the long term answer but we might as well give him 2026 to see what he can do. Either he is a pleasant surprise or he proves he is just. a backup, then we can draft our next QB in 2027 in what is supposed to be a very good QB draft.

When I thought there was a chance they would keep most of the roster and just add pieces on defense WR, OG and TE I was hoping we would get high floor, ready to play guys from teams in the CFP.

Now it looks like we are taking forever I think good players in underperforming teams could offer better value.

I could see TJ Parker, Peter Woods and Aveion Terrell fall after that horrible Clemson season. I wouldn't mind if they were picked somewhere in the first two rounds.

Same goes for LSU players.

Now we know the strategy is scorched earth roster again, who would you be interested in?

I used to think we were probably going to focus on DBs on defense but now it looks like we desperately need DEs and OLB. What positions do you think we should prioritize?
2-3 years in a complete tear down rebuild is not long. If Sully knows what he's doing when picking players, it won't take a long time. Remember: Grier was terrible at picking players in the draft, that's why we went all in on FA and trades which got us in this cap-hell mess to start with.

No one knows his potential at this point. If we protect him, give him weapons and a solid running game, IMO he will be fine.

People say this every year and I ask the same question. When has that actually worked out for us? It hasn’t. No, you stay where you are and draft the BPA (Sully’s strategy) or if you really want someone at a position of need, and have the ammo to do it, you move up.
How often has Miami done that though?

This rebuild should have started after 2023 after this team was exposed agaisnt Ten and taken to the woodshed by Bal.

At this point, I’m hopeful that by 2028 this can be a playoff caliber team and with the right luck, maybe a contender. A lot of things obviously need to happen between now and then but this is going to take at least 2 full drafts and clearing out salary cap problems.

We should be looking to trade out of the first round entirely and pick up additional picks. I'd rather see us address the gaping holes in this lineup with high upside quantity. I.e., we need two cornerbacks among many, many other things, and if we stick with our draft choices, we potentially draft one cornerback in the first three rounds. Who may end up flopping. I'd rather us have the chance to draft two upside cornerbacks in rounds 2-3, as well as address other needs.

That's the best-case scenario, and presumes that either Ewers is the quarterback of the future or our 2027 pick becomes that. More than likely it is 2029 or 2030 return to contendership.

I’m pretty sure Tua had recorded air yards thrown on a pass that were on par and better than previous years

You aren't wrong, but there is literally no one left in authority that was responsible for prior failures.

I can't blame the new regime for what has gone on in the past.
We still have Ross.

Meh, I don't think he drives the bus when it comes to player decisions.

He's in a no win position with fans.

If he's hands off, ppl blame him for not making changes.

If he gets involved, ppl say he should let "football ppl" run the show.

Damned if he does. Damned if he doesn't.

He doesn't drive the bus on players decisions and is always hands off but his coaching decisions have been a tough swallow for fans.

I hope he had gotten it right for once. We deserve it.

Unfortunately, it has become a pattern for him to allow HCs to be hired with very slim resumes.

Flores was a DC in name only, and for a very short time.

Gase had a limited resume as an OC, and much of that was with Manning, who was basically his own OC. He had what, one year in Chicago as OC?

McD also did not have much experience as a true OC, and had not called plays even then.

Now we hire Hafley who has experience at the collegiate level, but not that much NFL experience. In reality, his time at BC was meh at best.

Now, some if these guys had some positives. Flores, in spite of the fact that he was an a$$hat (IMO) is an exceptional defensive mind.

McD is a good, creative play designer.

Gase? IDK if any positive there.

The point is, none of these guys had the type of resume with years of successful NFL coordinator experience that indicated head coaching abilities.

Hafley is the same story.

So yes, I can certainly place a lot of that at the feet of the owner.
