Drastic times call for drastic measures.

The guy is awesome. Doubt we could replace him.

But is he needed? That badly??

He draws doubles and triples. But that serves us no good. Our pass rush isn’t that great. It should be, with one and sometimes two of our guys freed up due to the doubles and triples. But it isn’t. So while I do not blame him at all for our lousy defense (he is the lone bright spot of it in my opinion) he isn’t worth what he’s paid. He would be if the rest of the D put out. But they aren’t. This is not Suh’s fault.

But his contract is obscene. I don’t blame him for this either. Why would he not take that kind of money from a team foolish enough to pay it?

I’d trade him in a second and roll with Phillips and Godchaux.

But could it be done? Is there another team as foolish as we that would take on that contract?

And with all respect to Suh.....

Would we really be that much worse if we offloaded him?

It's not going to happen because of his contract. Nothing the team can do other than to learn not to do something that stupid again

Ozzy rules!!

I’m afraid you may be right. Coupled with Alonzo and Branch, that’s a lot of ****ing dollars that could be put to far greater use.

Suh will still play with heart. Kiko and Branch, well....I’m impressed by neither this season.

Stills has a contract that didn’t pan out. Probably not his fault. Cutler cooked everything.

26-Suh.
8- Branch
8- Stills
8- Alonzo

Four guys. 50 million. And only one could have been called a positive factor.

I doubt Landry will get his money here. We just don’t have it.

suh earned his money, the other blow

There's just no way any DT is worth 20+ mil a year. Nobody on any team should be making that except for franchise QB's and even then you better be top 5. Problem is we are in a worse situation with the cap if we cut him than keep him so he's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Suh is a great player but overpaid. A team that has holes all over can't afford to use 26 mil of their cap on a DT no matter how good he may be. Branch is an average player and grosly overpaid. Alonso is a below average player and insanely overpaid.Timmons was also overpaid due to his age and below average production this year. Julius Thomas was a waste of cap space and a roster spot.

The Dolphins need to do a better job of drafting instead of overpaying for players. Suh, Alonso and Branch will be back because cutting them would cost too much in dead cap money and no one will trade for any of them with those contracts. Timmons, Pouncey , Bushrod, and Julius Thomas need to be gone. They néed to trade either Jones or McDonald and draft a Free Safety. Why pay big contracts to two safeties who are a liabilities in coverage. Especially when none of your linebackers can cover either.

I think the defense has gone downhill since he’s been here. I don’t understand that, but it is what it is. He hasn’t made Wake better, we aren’t collapsing pockets, we haven’t made a dent in Brady’s performance or closed the gap there in the AFC East. Suh has been a non-factor for the Miami Dolphins.

Completely disagree

It all starts at the top. The people running the team don't have a real vision as to how to build a real team. You never build a team around a DT which is what they tried to do but lets face it, they just wanted to make a splash, they just made the wrong splash. You build with a you top QB on offense and with a you top pass rushing DE on defense. Maybe a real #1 top 5 corner and a play making FS. All this FO has done is try to plug holes every year instead of building a foundation with the right player and at the right positions.

Now there's people on this board that want to build the team around a slot WR. People just never learn

Ozzy rules!!

Suh and all of his money have not made this defense better although he has played well.

A player making Suh's money needs to be able to place the team on his back and carry them to victories by himself. While Suh has performed admirably, he has not nearly performed up to the level of his contract. So the Dolphins can continue to get what they get from him or make an example out of him and swallow hard by moving on......INMHO

It’s a team sport. Suh is a great player, but his salary is a handicap.
Other than gronk and Brady, I believe the phins have as good as or a better roster. However, the Pats play solid team defense. Their front 7 are just a bunch of JAGs. Their O line has a few solid starters, but no dominant players.
However, they are well coached and mentally prepared every week. They play as complimentary players.

Bro I am sure his 2018 salary number will be a topic of discussion this off season with all the team needs. Some tough decisions are going to have to be explored going forward with salaries, front office, scouting, and coaching staff.

Suh does his job and is very good at it. Is he worth what we are paying him.....probably not considering how much we need at other positions. But Suh has definitely lived up to expectations in my opinion.
