Here's my theory on who we should cut

cut all the people mentioned
Jones
Mcintosh
Howard
Seau

and sam madison and gus frerotte as well...yes i know madison has been great..but 7 million off the books will help this team immensely and maybe we could sign him after he's released

and the 1st and 2nd round will likely address the offensive line and defensive secondary...because we all know we will sign a qb in the offseason..bottom line cut all these players and look to draft a cornerback or offensive lineman in the 1st round to help our needs...

wouldnt cut gus (would b a solid back up) and first see if madison will take after Zach and Jason and reconstruct but if not yea cut

i like gus as a backup..but we could use his 4 millon plus to help sign free agent...personally i say cut gus no matter what...i think saban knows he has to bring a franchise qb in now..to make us happy and his team happy..i think he's gonna try everything he can to make it happen

Starting Thursday. The main reason nobody has got cut yet is because they are waiting to see if a CBA gets done by Wednesday's 4:00PM deadline. After the deadline, the Fins will start cutting people. HOWEVER, if a new CBA gets done(which I hope happens), they may spread the cuttings over the next week since FA will be moved to March 10th.

thanx nublar...thats tough luck for the phins...definitely hurts our chances for brees..but hey thats our luck...if we dont get a good qb this offseason...i'll blame it not because of our organization...but the crappy luck we have been having the past couple of years..

Exactly- Nick will wait and see what happens with the CBA before making the cuts. 1) Because the financials of it all change with a new CBA and without one and 2) Because why cut, for example Reggie and Sam today, pretty much showing the rest of the NFL we will be in the market for corners? Like Nick always says, maintain the competitive advantage. That is just what he is doing. I wouldnt expect our cuts until Wednesday or Thursday.

If they sign the CBA and it raises the cap, wouldn't San Diego have the money to keep Brees?

why would they keep both for a 3rd straight year?

chargers have offered brees incentive laden deal which he doesn't want.
cause they dont know how his arm will be after the injury. makes sense on their part. i think smith (Their GM) is fine with rivers and feeley. sucks for them.

I think Seau will take a lot less if he wants to play another year. I think Saban will want him back.

You're not saving $7 million by releasing Madison. You're only saving $1,923,286.

wow, that's great information. Given that, I don't see how it makes sense to cut Madison like some people have mentioned. That would be $4.4mm in dead cap. We should just get him to restructure for as much as both sides agree. I can't believe Reggie Howard's contract...freakin Wannstedt and Spielman...

Bingo! :hysterikill:

You don't pay a back up QB Ferrotte 4 mil a year. T. Jones D. Macintosh R. Howard Gus should give us the cap room we need JT and Zach restructure then we sign Bentley, Brees and Ty law draft Santonio Holmes and our offense would be unstoppable.

and we can get TO and Alexander and Culpepper to back up Brees and we'll be on fire.....

It's not that easy to sign away...i f we get brees we'll be very very lucky to get bentley....law will be completely out of the question

What's the story on McDougle's contract? Is he a free agent or is his contract small enough to justify backup work?
