Loving the signings... We now have one of the most aggressive, hard hitting safety tandems in the game.. We now have one of the youngest Olines with bookend tackles. One downside however, I dont know for sure, but we gotta be pretty short on money.. so who do we cut to free up some space...?

According to Schefter...
It’s worth pointing out that if Miami cuts running back Ricky Williams, the team will save $3.5 million against the salary cap. Is that worth it to the Dolphins?

What about Holliday- Love the guy but hes getting up there in age and his salary doesnt translate to his play.. we have Langford and Merling to replace him.

This one is a pure guess on my part.. but what about Jason Allen.. he was a first round pick so his salary has to be somewhat high and the FO doesnt seem to fond of him

The Schefter tidbit is interesting. Why? Because he is ridiculously connected, and I cannot imagine he came up with this potential scenario on his own.

Trade/cut Ricky and sign Derrick Ward for cheaper, or stick with ronnie and Cobbs. not saying to do it, but if there is a FA and we need the money it is a senario.i heard rick would almost save us 4, and ward could be as cheap as 2. not going to happen, just a thought.

I wouldn't cut Ricky, not now. I was one of the biggest opponents of Ricky last year, i didn't think we could trust him, i didn't think we could rely on him. But he worked hard last year, he proved himself to the fans and to the organization. He proved he could stay on the field, and he proved he could play football at a solid level and make very key contributions. It's no secret the Dolphins are a much better team with Ricky anyway (look at the records with and without), even with Cobbs i'd keep him.

Ward is the top Running back in FA.. he wants to be a full time starter and wants money...

Id release Williams as he is replaceable and perhaps draft Chris Wells or Moreno if one of them falls..

id release williams and holliday, i know vonnie is a fan favorite and im a fan of his, put he is counting almost 6 million towards the cap (i believe), and williams is over 3 million. hes signed through 2010 and hes not getting any younger.

I think holliday will be released.. I think he counts between 5-6 mil

what about wilford, how much cap he bring if we cut him? also if we get rid of ricky we will have to draft a high RB IMO, ward wants to be starter or starter money and we are wanting a RB for less money than ricky if we go that way,

now tht our Safety position is looking pretty good, and shouldnt need a high Draft pick there, I wouldnt mind getting another RB like in the 3-4th like cofee, greene...

haha i promise you that does not happen

How do you figure Langford can replace Holliday when they both started last year on opposite sides ?

Do you guys ever read other threads ? There are at least a dozen places where it's been explained that cutting Wilford COSTS us cap dollars. Frees up nothing.

Huh? I said we have Langford AND Merling to replace Holliday.Meaning Langford on one side and Merling on the other.

1. I read somewhere that Vonnie will only save us 1 mil if we cut him.

2. I'd cut Ricky. I think he was more of an insurance package last year. Cobbs stepped up and I am sure they can find another late round back.

3. Anyone know how much Wilford would save us?

4. Interesting that Schefter's list is up to date and he has Coles and Brown both possibly winding up in Miami. That would be staggering.

Yes, but because there is no cap next year, any bonus money owed him would be accelerated right now. Cutting Holliday saves us $300,000, which is not worth it. Restructuring his deal to lower his cap number is the only move that makes sense with him.
