So why did we trade Chambers?

We traded chambers for compensation, future of the dolphins. I don't think the staff saw that Chambers will improve beyond his current skills. Randy shipped chambers for a 2nd round pick and pretty much his salary.

He was my favorite player and what did we get from the trade? A second round pick and Camarillo? Randy was the dumbest person of all time. If we still had him look at our lineup - Chambers, Ginn and Wilford. So is David Kircus going to be starting and have we released Derek Hagan yet?

I did not agree with the Chambers trade but at least we got decent value for him. Its amazing that we drafted a Wr when we had two on the team that were worth second round picks. Maybe we should have kept Welker and Chambers and whoever our qb was it would have done better.

This year we need to draft another wide reciever according to many "draft" experts and many predict that we need to use a 2nd rounder to do so. Until we pick that player we really do not know what we gained or lost. That draft pick will need to be as good or better than Chambers to justify the trade. It was a gamble regarless of how you valued Chambers as a fan. He was a known commody on the roster whom seldom got injured on a team that is still currently missing a true # 1 and possibly number #2 receiver. I certainly do not mind trading a player away but you need their replacement waiting in the wings not gambling on getting one in next years draft. Hagan many want to get rid of but he is an example of what you could get and he is not a bust. Chambers was not a trouble maker, stayed healthy and has made the Pro Bowl. How do you guarentee you will find that same player in the draft. You cannot becasue it is very hard to do.

Chambers was never bad, he just didnt live up consistently to his billing. Lets hope we get better. Right now we are bare but that can be sorted. Hagan isnt the answer so we have to replace him sooner than later IMO. Lets see.

I hope your not going to do this well he was great, our best player bs. He never would have been traded if any of that was true. He had one solid year and alot of frustrating preformances and some amazing catches. The money didn't justify the end result but the draft pick represents great value. J.Ireland now needs to turn it into a future player we can count on week in and week out.

I truly beleive outside of Scott L now coach of St Louis we have been missing a good receiving coach for quite some time. After Scott left Chambers, McMicheal and Hagen whom we had just draft never developed as they should and all 3 suddenly had a case of the droppsies. Booker too somewhat only Welker appeared to progress.

Seriosly what was the point in trading Chambers. He is going to tear it up in San Diego, and we are stuck with a bunch of recivers who are not close to the level chambers was at. The only reason that Chambers didnt have the 1000 yards recieving every year was because he had no quaterback. But since he is gone and there is nothign we can do about it i hope that we will get a good draft pick in the 2nd

He will be 30 years old when the season starts, will make $5.1 million this season, only one 1,000 yard season during his 8 year career, and a team was willing to offer up a 2nd round choice for him. THAT is why Chambers was traded.

Chambers was fun to watch, and he is very talented. He could make the most acrobatic catch, but at the same time he would drop the easiest of passes. Plus when he would drop those passes, he would always flip his wrist looking for the invisible flag(which was annoying). He will never be a huge star in the league, but on an explosive offense like the Chargers, he will have some success.

In a league where Pro Bowl record breaking receivers go for 4th round picks, you have to take a second round pick for a second tier receiver like Chambers.

We drafted him with a second round pick. Eight years later...... we get him for a second rounder. Thats why we traded him lol.

I thought Chambers did a great job for what he had around him. You have to remember, out of how many seasons he played here, he never went more than a year or two before having to re-learn the offense. Every year it was either a new head coach or offensive coordinator. He needed stability, and he never got it here. Frerotte got him to a pro-bowl in one season. If Saban had kept Frerotte around for another year, who knows what would have happened. But that's just speculation on my part. He made some amazing catches with some nice footwork, and that I'll never forget.

Wow in a good draft you expect tp atleast get 2 -3 starters and WR being a position that takes time to develop i am amazed at this thread.you do not trade a starter
for draft picks ever if he is contributing. He had a very good season in sandeigo and now every one is going to say he is a bad WR even their.

so even if you pick a WR their is no 100% sure shot.in a second rounder you are looking at 30% chance of a starter. then you give 3 yrs for development and only 4 yrs from now we wil know

We needed to get young and we got a very good value for an average receiver. Chambers dropped too many balls, didn't fight for it all the time, and still doesn't fight to stop an interception. He caused a lot of drives to stall because of his inconsistent pass catching. I don't accept the excuse of average QBs being the fault of Chambers problems - I blame it on his lack of mental discipline.

If Ginn continues to develop he will make us forget about Chambers. Now we need a good #2 to go with him.

I liked the trade at the time & after seeing him as a charger I liked it even more.

He is good as a 3rd or 4th option, but even then he is inconsistant. If he is your 1st or 2nd option you will have serious problems consistantly moving the ball.

He had some great plays for SD, I think he was a big part of Norv saving his J-O-B, & getting the Chargers into the playoffs, but he also did the exact same things that consistantly killed dolphin drives. He ran routes sometimes with his head in the clouds, he let up on deep routes, & he was the chief cause of ints & turn overs.
