.....that if we get a #2 for Surtain we wait until the second round to draft a running back and take either a qb or wr with the #2 overall pick? If we do not get a second round pick this year we have to take a rb at #2 overall. Your thoughts?

If a running back is the highest rated player on our board when we draft THEN we will take a running back. If he isn't we might not even draft one. We have plenty of options.
I agree with the first part but not the second. Whether we get a second rounder or not does not change the fact that we could get a productive RB in the third or in FA.
The reality is this. Whether we have three picks or two in the first three rounds we will take a back with one of those picks. You can take that to the bank. It simply becomes a question of when. My belief (for what it's worth) is that getting a second round pick for Surtain will be a major factor in taking a back at #2.
