Those who know Pat White best can attest to the fact that the person who straps on the helmet, runs the huddle and barks out the signals at the line of scrimmage from the quarterback position is quite different from the person without the pads on answering questions from a reporter or simply having a conversation.

"For one, I love the game of football. I love being around it. I love playing it,” White says. “I love watching it and I love learning it, so when I’m here (at practice or in a game) I’m in heaven. All the outside talk is just talk. It is what it is and I know I have to come to work every day and be prepared.”

I think it speaks strongly how much the rest of the team looked up to him and followed him in West Virginia, and also how he was voted a team captain at the Senior Bowl.

A lot of people speak about Mark Sanchez' leadership and presence, etc...but I find that most of them are media. Do the players REALLY look up to him and follow his lead? I'm not saying they don't, I just don't think we've seen that proven as much as we have with Pat White.

On the other hand, Pat's actual throwing talent has yet to assure me that he can become a starting QB in the NFL. He has a loooong way to go, on that front.

I love his story. He was a great college QB and a guy that you love to cheer for, though as a South Florida fan I had to cheer against him more often than not...but I have to separate that from what my head tells me and my head tells me he doesn't have a great chance of being a regular starter in the NFL.

But maybe he wasn't drafted to be.

Much has been specualted on the role of Pat White in Miami. Is he a future QB? Is he a role player for the Wild Cat? I doubt any of us know until the season starts,or perhaps in reality the 2010/2011 season.

CK ur a USF fan too??? I thought i was the only one... besides pyrodolfan.. or something like that i know he has a sig of grothe. Either way i had to root against pat also but i did always respect him. I dislike rutgers the most in the big east.

Sometimes when I think of Pat White, I envision a career path that could be similar to Troy Brown only a notch higher. What I mean by that is that Troy Brown was an all around football player and a winner. Very high intangibles but pretty small in size.
