Overall a very positive season; one that was a lot more successful than most people had anticipated, especially after Week 5. I was ecstatic when we got Ajayi in the 5th round, and he was phenomenal this year. He will be the centerpiece of the team moving forward, put a premium on running the ball, controlling the clock, and shoring up the defense.
Positives
- Jay Ajayi's emergence, obviously
- Tannehill progressed this year IMO, and I have never been bullish on him
- Tony Lippett was very solid, he had some moments, but he was a WR 2 years ago
- Xavien Howard had a solid year for a rookie, he may be a good corner in this league
- OL was sometimes excellent, sometimes mediocre, and sometimes bad (anyone who watched the playoff game saw the latter). They need some work in pass-pro, and a healthy Pouncey will help.
- Adam Gase. I did not like the hire initially, but I am optimistic that I was wrong. I love that he is trying to replicate the Pats, them and the Seahawks are the only programs worth replicating
- The WR corps. Jarvis Landry is the most underrated receiver in the league, Stills looked very good at times, and Devante Parker showed some flashes of what we were hoping he could be
Negatives
- The LB corps needs shoring up. I would not mind exploring some FA options and seeing who falls to us in the draft.
- The OL, cuts both ways. They are weak at the tackle position in pass-pro, it needs to be addressed. Again, I would explore FA options and see what comes in the draft
- The run D
Overall I see more positives than negatives. Would love to hear what others took away from the year, if you think I missed anything, or that I am completely wrong on something (or everything).
