Some harsh opinions about Miami's immediate future.

It's the same old after a lost rhetoric. We are not any good and the wins against teams like Chicago, Kansas City and New England was just an illusion. Granted we are not as good as we should be but we definitely are not as bad as some makes us out to be.

True, but this team is stuck in neutral and needs to find a way out. The roster needs to be rebuilt. I'd rather see a young, developing team with a low cap number winning 4-5 games for 2 seasons than a cap strapped veteran laden team winning 7-8 games a year.

Problem is Wannspiel left us with a cap-strapped team that has little talent and even fewer draft picks, and little cap room to maneuver. Only now are we really beginning to realize the devastation left by Wannspiel.

all is not lost ( except for this year) saban and capers have done a decent job on defense and there's no reason to believe we can't squeeze another year out of Jason & Zack. the offense was not that bad last year and basically we have the same bunch of guys. the big difference? Offensive coordinator, quarterback and a terrible draft.
What to do?
1. We need a new offensive coordinator. I know you Mularkey lovers love to cite "consistency" as the reason for retaining Mularkey. The NFL is a year-to-year coaching carousel and our offense has shown very little to give Mularkey another year. Remember how Shula defended Olivadotti every year regardless of results. Nick's pride won't let him do the right thing, but when season ticket sales drop by 15,000...
2. We need to draft, trade or sign another QB. cpep's a question mark, Joey's...Joey. If nothing else let Cleo play the final 2, but Nicky's pride won't allow that to happen.
3. Who's ever in charge of this draft needs to be removed. We got nothing from it. Probably the worst in the NFL.

wow... that you aren't willing to actually give the draft some time to come to fruition speaks volumes

as long as we have faith in the team i think that they can have a great future but right now they are redeveloping in a way

I guess the only thing to do now is begin the re-building process. The patch work method certainly isn't working....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

Certainly all drafts need more than 1 year to come to fruition, but it's not unfair to expect some "immediate help" like the majority of the other teams are getting. Even if you include Culpepper (2nd round pick) there's not one guy this year that remotely stirs interest and having followed the Dolphins since their birth that has never happened. Yeah, CPEP could come back, Hagans could be the next Jerry Rice and Joe Toledo could be ???? , but with an aging defense, we needed some help now and most teams got it. We didn't.

The Ugly loser mentality still has a grip on this team. We go into a game as the 2nd ranked D and lose 21-0 to the 30th ranked O in the league. There is no way in Hell Buffalo should have stood a chance against Miami, but because this team still hasn't figured out how to win the games they should win aswell as winning the games they shouldn't win, then we will never be a good team. I would like to know what Saban is saying to these guy's after a game like this, obviously whatever he's saying isn't working cause we keep losing games we should win, it's just a matter of saying the right things to these guy's before each game. Don't let them coach themselves, cause it doesn't work. Saban needs to remind them everyday that they will lose if they think they are better then anyone, there is no way you're gonna convince me the Dolphins didn't go into this game thinking they had it in hand.

I doubt you really know every other team in the NFL's production from their rookie players. That's a bold statement that you put no time into making. How can you judge a draft when the season isnt even over yet?

Some of us tried, repeatedly, to explain to you that you needed to stop looking at year-to-date rankings because they were misleading. You think because your D is #2 and our O is #30, you should win the game. It doesn't work that way.

You didn't lose yesterday because your team has a loser mentality. You lost because your offensive gameplan -- a good plan, I might add -- was to run early and often, then throw in some passing plays, likely off play action. The plan didn't work because your quarterback had a bad day in crappy weather and your receivers somehow forgot how to actually catch a pass.

Your secondary got destroyed on many critical downs, and your second-tier tackling was atrocious. Once we could pass, you had to respect the throw so we were able to suddenly run and kill the clock.

You don't beat NE and Chicago at home, and then lose to the Bills because of a loser mentality. You lost because our team, on all sides of the ball and in the office, is right now, at this moment, better than yours. You got out-coached, out-hustled, and out played. That's why you lost.

You know how I know this? Because when you go to defense rankings after the stats from yesterday are compiled, you'll no longer be #3. And when you go to offensive rankings, we'll no longer be #30. Stats like these mean nothing until the season is over, and most assuredly have absolutely NOTHING to do with whether your team should or should not win a game.

How can Buffalo be so much better when they're 0-3 against the teams you mentioned? It doesn't even make sense. Any team can outplay any other team on any given day. It happens all the time. Go gloat somewhere else. After an entire offseason of Bills fans constantly blaming their loss on Mike Mularkey and not entertaining the idea that Miami was better than they were, I and probably not many others really want to hear this.

With 7 rounds and free agents, it's really not that difficult. I've followed every team's draft since the start of the season. Our's is the worst. It's not a bold statement... it's a fact. We have 2 games left what new personnel from this year's crop do you see making a difference? I love my Fins but I don't live in a fantasy.

While I can sympathize with the writer, the piece was just way too knee-jerk. It was all emotion, and other than mentioning Culpepper it contained nothing else as to where the team needs to improve.
