Some Highlights From The JES Combine Presser

Good front offices can find good o-line starters on day 2 and even day 3
The people in charge here for the last 20 years or so were incapable of consistently doing that
I think our prior front office was poor on every metric
-Drafting
-FA decisions
-Deciding on which contracts to give out and for how much versus let player go / trade
-Trades
-Maybe most importantly building a team with a vision. See the big picture of what you are trying to do

Thats an interesting comment. I always suspected there are players that could play, but tap out with fake injuries / don't play through things they should be able to play through. Now we know for sure NFL execs believe that. He already put his money where his mouth is w/ regard to James Daniels in this regard. Apparently the view of the organization is that he could have played through his injury. So Sully whacked him. Good for him. I bet Grier would have kept him around. Probably would not have wanted to admit his own mistake, and rationalized he was "value" under his current deal. My view, you don't want guys like that in the locker room.

It doesn't sound like Tua is necessarily gone, the way i took what he said is if they can't find a trade partner for him they're not going to cut their nose to spite their face with the cap hit.
Hopefully they can find a RT in the draft so whomever the franchise QB is walks into a better situation than Tannehill and Tua did.

My read is he’s absolutely gone one way or another. He even talked about him in past tense a lot.

He also said when pressed that eddy lacy the rb was his reference of a player that they hit on above consensus in Green Bay that he had a lot of influence in.

I mean lacy was a solid player and all but that’s your example of your hit as an evaluator? Ehhh.

Not to mention you used a late 2 in the process. Pick 61. Did you ever really exceed the value with the pick invested there? Just sometbing I found interesting that was the player and pick invested he’d reference.

That would be due to him likely not staying on the field? I mean when he plays, he is pretty decent, but he is never on the field.
But hes not, hes a backup level player when hes on the field, hes one of the worst pass blocking Tackles in the league.

Its puzzling how Jackson has managed to trick so many members of this fanbase, like hes done some magical spell on everyone or something. I dont recall any player in the history of this franchise thats been so statistically bad but still had such a good reputation. Hes statistically worse at being a tackle than Tua is at being a QB, everyone has finally realized how bad Tua is, yet the same hasnt happened with Jackson, its puzzling how hes pulled this off.

I don't think that's true at all.

Not everyone beats a dead horse like some around here.

It gets old and redundant at some point.

I'm all for having a good Oline, but it doesn't have to be full of day one picks.
When everyone wakes up and stops this "Austin Jackson is good enough" BS, ill stop beating the horse.

You are the king of oversimplification.

He is not a terrible RT. His biggest issue is staying on the field.

Not saying he's great but you make it sound like he is plain trash.

As far as the other part, I guess if anyone disagrees with your assessment, you believe it's fine to keep harping on it. I guess it is, you do you, but don't be surprised when ppl don't take your level of knowledge seriously.

It isn't about who yells the loudest that intelligent ppl listen to.

The tear down part and sounding smart when cleaning up someone else's mistakes is a lot easier. They get a year of everything they do looking like it's genius.

He started under Flo and Mcd. He apparently is penciled in as starter by Haf. I'm going with professionals.
I've not argued he's good enough NOT to replace, but he's good enough to keep until an upgrade is found. There are a LOT of players on the '25 roster who are 'good enough . . . so far.' Some, not saying you, seem to think getting quality players is no more difficult than going to walmart and picking out a head of lettuce.

Agreed I'm not a fan of AJax the player but we are too strapped for cash and needs to take his cap hit unless we can trade him for a pick or another tackle. Until then roll with him for the year then cut bait.

At pass blocking hes awful, you cant be an awful pass blocker and not be trash. Its the most important job of a tackle.
