Unlike with Wannstedt, the current regime has my full support because I think they know what they're doing.
So, I can only assume that the Dolphins brass must have felt that Lawson has some limitations because I think we need some athleticism to go get the quarterback. If God forbid JT goes down, our speed, quickness, and explosiveness in the front 7 will be very weak. David Bowens is decent, but I was hoping to get an explosive guy with great quickness and speed. Those types of guys seem hard to find, so I can only assume Lawson had some question mark for us to pass on him, knowing that there are many d-backs out there.
I am not knocking guys like Carter and Holliday. I realize we had a team record for sacks last year. I am talking about that JT type of explosive player. I think we need another one of them.
I think we need an extremely strong, quick, and tireless Nose tackle.
But Saban is patient and he cannot fix everything overnight. I would assume that next offseason, we will add some youth to our front 7. I would not be shocked if we get an OLB in round one and a big DT in round 2 next season.
