Some posts within the last hour or 2 on the Denver board. The types of comments are uncannily familiar to the flack Henne gets around here. Will this make you think twice about Orton, maybe breathing a sigh of relief, or cling on too the misplaced belief that a bunch of similarly knowledgable Bronco fans are wrong about Orton while you're right about Henne?

Orton's staying put.

Hopefully Tebow sends his butt to the bench. Just go out and win that spot now Mr. Tebow.

Well, guess that also means we won't be able to outbid for Mebane, Jenkins or any worthwhile DT either.
This team will blow again this year. I guess I'll just hope Orton can lose 14 games for us and we get Andrew Luck next year. Thats the only silver lining being played out IMO

xactly. Nobody wants him/wants to give up anything of value for him.
That should tell the Orton Parrots something!
Maybe they actually watch game film and situational football rather than simply look at stats. Maybe they know our defense's problem was partly due to KO's 3 & outs?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
what a surprise. No one wants Orton. I cant believe it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The tough thing about winning the spot is KO is the PERFECT QB for no contact practice football. He's the prototype QB I would pick for taking a snap from a coach and hitting wide open WRs down field w/fans watching on the side of the practice field.
It's hard to take his spot in practice....he could give Tom Brady a run in NE if it was based on that. Then he plays with the first team in preseason which has no real implications on players position unless someone's play is remarkably bad or good.
So, getting in games and real football is the trick. It's a completely different world then.

That is a great attitude and all.. good for you for accepting whatever comes down.

The deal is , however, that by using Kyle "Stopgap" Orton, the team is stalling it's own development.
It puts us further behind.
Playing Orton is a sideways move... instead of a forward move.
Keeping the lid on the future ( Tebow) is like
having a great steak on the grille...
that is close to done... but not quite cooked yet...
and instead of concentrating on the steak cooking...
and us getting set to serve a really quality meal...
with medium rare sirloin and fine wine...
we are serving the guests burnt hotdogs and Mountain Dew (Orton)..
just because we already have them and dont want to waste food.
I mean... it will feed you right NOW.. right?
---------------------------------------------------
-Why didn't we just accept a 4? Its Kyle Orton.
---------------------------------------
When you cant sustain a drive, cant get first downs and go 3 and out every time until the defense starts playing prevent, our defense doesnt stand a chance.
Orton is really good at keeping our defense on the field all game.
----------------------------------------------
If Elway wants to win right now, he will do anything to trade or release Orton.
If he wants us to scream for his head, he will keep number 8.
Man and I wanted to win this year.
Im NOT confident with Orton as our QB.

Prettty much what anyone who watches games already knew....pretty stats, average player.

I told you guys Kyle Orton is the Henne of Denver. If Miami gets Orton it would be interesting to see who fans grow to loath more.

I cant wait to see there thoughts after watching Tebow....they think their offense sucks now...just wait

When your team loses often the qb gets blamed..Kyle Orton..

When Miami loses its pretty much always Henne fault..Guy is trash...I hope to god a light has come on or something happens to make him better...

Orton ****s on Henne..

yeah, I'm gonna bump my own thread since when it comes to Orton vs Henne, it appeals more to logic than emotion - especially reactive emotion.

Bottom line: the consensus on this board, most of who have watched Henne's complete body of work is that he's terrible in crunch time, especially in the end zone and riding his coattails is a trip to mediocrity.

Well guess what? The overriding consensus on the major Broncos forum is almost word for word identical when it comes to Orton. Just like with Henne, there are supporters who point to circumstances like poor defense, or in Chad's case, Henning - BUT the majority opinion of fans who have seen and rooted for Orton for 2 years is so eerily similar to the general opinion her on Henne, that it's uncanny. Here, it's "check down Chad" and there it's "3 and out Orton" :idk:

Bottom line, it's presumptuous to assume your opinion of Henne is more reliable than equally avid and knowledgeable Denver fans' similar opinion of Orton. It's arrogant to think you're right and thus smarter than those guys who are just as anxious to jettison Orton, even if it means Tebow. If you want to believe that the majority of Orton watchers are wrong - then logically you're likely to be just as wrong about Henne.

Maybe it's just as well this trade doesn't happen - cause it sounds like despite the artificially inflated numbers, we'd merely be substituting chuck steak for ground round.

I might just say Orton is a little safer than Henne.....and to me that's not worth the compensation the Broncos or Orton want.

Yeah I gave up on wanting Orton here yesterday.. at this point I'd rather take the 10% chance that Henne actually thrives in this new offense.

Yeah, there are at least a few possibilites that make you think He could do better....possibly..... More weapons, upgraded OL, SPEED.....new OC.....we can see.......

Let's trade Henne for Orton straight up then.

i dont care what they say, from me watching orton over the past few years, i know hes a good qb, just on a horrible team that makes him look bad. Hopefully denver cuts him and we get him, and if we dont, well enjoy your henne losing us everygame by himself alone. I'll be watching and laughing at that scrub. Hes lucky to still have a job on this damn team.

Denial is a sad thing. To be honest, he would probaly be a slight upgrade to Henne, and I say slight. Not enough to put this team over the top, and certainly not worth Denver's asking price. I would expect him to be a little better based on experience. Where he is not better and far worse is on 3rd down. So lets say worst case scenario Henne gets us to 7-9 again and Orton would get us to 9-7, we are still no better off. We draft in a worst position and gave up a 2nd or 3rd.

if henne had ortons stats last year we are a playoff team
touchdowns are still touchdowns..
interceptions are still interceptions...

inflated stats maybe but henne stats weren't even close to pretty
yeah i get it orton is a middle of the pack qb though henne is in the bottom 25

I don't put any stock in the general consensus on this board why would I put any in the consensus on Denver's board? Some people here are very smart and some are very dumb. Denver is bound to have the same on there board.
