### Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said he will talk to Dan Marinoabout a potential job within the organization. But he said he has “no idea” what it might be.
### A bit more on Moreno: "Solid contributor but not a No. 1 back,” ESPN’s Bill Polian said. “Most of his success from 2013 was a function of the [Denver] system. His acceleration to the hole is the reason” why Polian gave him a “minus” grade for speed.
But “the rest of his game is good,” Polian said. “He just doesn’t hit the big plays you need from a No. 1 running back.”
Pittsburgh-bound LaGarrette Blount expected Miami interest, but the Dolphins never called him, and he isn’t nearly as good as Moreno in pass protection, which is being prioritized by Miami.
### Moreno's one-year, $3 million deal leaves the Dolphins with just over $16 million in cap space, with a little less than a third of that needed to sign draft picks.
### Postscripts from last week’s NFL owners meetings: Though some have criticized Miami’s signing of cornerback Cortland Finnegan, one competing general manager insisted it was a smart move because “he’s tough and physical” and might regain his previous form in a defensive system better suited to him.
Finnegan’s coach in St. Louis, Jeff Fisher, said “you get to that age [30] where you have to be aware of [potential loss of speed]. But when he was playing for us, he could still run.”…
Chiefs coach Andy Reid, on what Miami is getting in Branden Albert: “Great leader and an All-Pro. As good a player as he is, he's an even better person. He'll take care of your left side and do a great job for you. Pass blocking, run blocking – he’s good at both.”…
Fisher said even though Shelley Smith started only two games for the Rams in 2013, he’s a starting-caliber guard, plus “an outstanding run blocker and very physical.”
### Among coaches, there were mixed views expressed about whetherJoe Philbin was culpable for not knowing about the bullying in his locker-room. One coach said it was obvious on HBO’s Hard Knocks in 2012 that Philbin was too detached and spent too much time in his office.
But Carolina’s Ron Rivera said: “A coach can't know everything. Coaches are held to a standard that sometimes is impossible. These players are men. I don’t know how we’re responsible for what they do.” Saints coach Sean Payton said: “How Joe is viewed in our circles is outstanding.”

I don't see an issue with Moreno speed but with that said he's not a #1 back he's Solid at a lot of things great at none ideal in a rotation

Polian is right, but it's still a bargain deal and only one year at that. Moreno does all the secondary things our backs couldn't do last year, and he's a solid runner too. I'd like to draft a back with potential to be the starter after next season.

No one really knows about Finnegan. It makes sense to take a risk with Coyle as our DC, but I don't like the money we spent to do so.

Philbin seems to have taken the whole locker room incident to heart, and I don't think he's just giving PR in his statements. Perhaps surviving as head coach will allow him to relax, be more approachable and a little less conservative overall.

Moreno pass blocked 80 times, and gave up only 1 sack, 3 hits, and 3 hurries. Blount pass blocked 37 times, and gave up 0 sacks, 0 hits, and 0 hurries. How is that "not nearly as good?"

The sample sizes appear very uneven. Moreno with twice as many snaps, who is to say blount would fare any better. I think the tape shows the tape shows the tall story. And every scout or gm I have seen says the same thing. Moreno is superior in blocking

They probably aren't just zeroing in on one year's PFF statistics.

Our coach has been through a lot the last two years. Hopefully he'll be better prepared to deal with these issues in the future and be more hands on when it comes to the locker room.

Moreno is a better pass blocker than Blount. Tannehill needs help, not just on the O-line, but in the backfield with pass protection. Good post. I think we can fill in the rest of our needs in the draft.

However, what possibly do coaching peers, including SB winning ones know as compared to our very own remote-in-hand FH armchair GM experts?. :idk:

Great to learn about Albert's admirable personal and leadership qualities. You know, many have been saying that the OL was rudderless with the departure of Jake; however, I honestly cannot recall hearing or reading about any leadership or inspirational qualities specifically attributed to him (of course beyond playing hurt for most of his career as a result of The Meatball's version of Rex's exhibition game 4 buttfumble start)

All true but, then you would have to do the same with Miller, who pass blocked 133 times, giving up 2 sacks, 1 hit, and 4 hurries with RT and Miami, as opposed to 80 pass blocks, 1- 3- 3 with Peyton and Denver.

They could go back to 2012 when Moreno pass blocked 53 times, giving up 1 sack, 0 hits, and 1 hurry. As I said he is VG, just not as good as some are making him out to be.

Blount is a 3rd down back. a redzone threat.. Far superior to Moreno.. I'll take Blount all day long over Moreno and Blount will prove it in Pittsburg.. I'm glad we have another small RB.. It makes sense.. :boohoo:

Moreno is a much needed pick up simply in terms of pass pro. Solid.

Ross, sign Marino. Just get over with already, not sure why he is stalling.

Sounds like they are trying to work something out. Maybe a role similar to what Nat Moore does to start with. VP of public relations or something.
