Watching the Saints versus the Rams was a real treat. Drew Brees is incredible, but he had time to throw the football against a very good Los Angeles defense. Somewhat lost in their current run is the tremendous play of the New Orleans offensive line.

The John Harbaugh on the hot seat rumors make me wonder if the Dolphins make a play if Harbaugh is fired? We know Stephen Ross wanted Jim Harbaugh several years back. Personally, I've always though John Harbaugh was one of the better coaches. But, somehow without great personnel the Adam Gase-led Dolphins are 5-4.

Is quarterback or defensive end the biggest need for this team? Cam Wake had a nice game against the Jets, but he's 36 years old. Charles Harris is looking more and more like a draft bust. MIami has got very little production from their defensive ends.

Then again, go around the league and look at the top teams. In the AFC, Patrick Mahomes has been incredible for Kansas City, Phillip Rivers is leading the Chargers and Tom Brady the Patriots. Brees, Jared Goff, Cam Newton have their teams positions well in the NFC. It's a quarterback driven league.

Here's an expensive experiment for you. Set up an experimental football league with say 10 teams, 10 games in the season. All teams must run a predetermined standardized offense so players could in theory switch teams without a learning curve. Play 5 games of the season, and determine the 2 worst and 2 best QBs in the league, then swap their teams. Just the QBs. Then see what happens in the remaining 5 games.

HC makes a HUGE difference. QB and OL have to be top 10, preferably elite.
Harbaugh? I don't see Gase going ANYWHERE in Off-season. Not stating that as preference, just my perception of reality

There is one thing in common with these successful teams......a Franchise QB. I am a #RT17 supporter however I wouldn't cry if we obtained/drafted a QB in the hopes that they can lead this team through the troughs that we seem to be eternally stuck in. Right now this team, as constituted, is going nowhere and change must be on the horizon..........

So, they should just go on Amazon and order a Franchise QB? Where do you propose to get one?

hopefully one from the draft, preferably one that plays QB not WR.

I don't disagree . . . in theory. But there are 3-4 elite QBs per decade. Getting one (e.g., Marino, Brady) isn't obvious. Someone with more time can list all the QB taken in top 15 for a decade to give a general idea of the likelihood. I'd settle for a top 10. Even then, how many teams with a top 10 QB try to upgrade. There's a reason for that. Now, if by 'franchise,' you mean top 10, that's easier, but still the odds are against it for any given team.

I agree it's a QB driven league. But finding one is the hard part. I admire Miami for taking a chance on Tannehill in the 1st round. He's had his moments, but unfortunately has been pedestrian for the most part. If he only had a stronger supporting cast. But again unfortunately, most teams don't get to have the strong supporting cast Tannehill needs. Those that do, are the elite teams. The 2019 draft is not the draft to reach for a QB in round #1 it's not the strongest group of QB's to swing and miss on. I'm not sure of Harbaugh, I admire the physical teams he coaches, but am just not sure he can replicate that in Miami? The injury bug has really hurt Miami in 2018. If I'm going to take a chance in the draft; it's going to be on a defensive player, which is the strength of the entire draft. I'm not opposed to releasing Tannehill, if a cheaper option becomes available. I'm buying time to draft my hopeful franchise QB in 2020!!!

It's a good point. I love watching good quarterbacks and Brees is at a different level right now. He completed nearly 80 percent of his passes on the season. But, man did that offensive line block for him. I always wonder how Tannehill might have progressed had the team fixed the offensive line early in his career. He definitely has some nice skills to work with.

I feel the exact same way. Tannehill has been a great soldier for Miami working with a subpar offensive line early in his career etc. But, with the latest injury I think it's definitely time to move on. Unfortunately, that is always a risky proposition. Those Mahomes types don't grow on trees and finding the right quarterback can take many drafts and failed picks. Doesn't mean you don't venture in that direction, though.

It's time to start merging AI with our QB. We need exponential progression capacity.

In fact, shave Brady's head right now to make sure he's not a cyborg...

Everyone keeps wanting a Silver Bullet solution to our problems. Clamoring for an elite QB to solve it all. It doesn't.

If you are fixated on the QB as the problem/solution, you are forgiving the other 52 players, HC, FO and entire staff for being the main culprits.

You can win the Super Bowl without an elite QB.

What these fans want and what they ask for are completely different.

They ask for a Super Bowl. What they want is domination. If you want a dominant franchise, you need a quality FO, HC and staff.

They will make the rest of the pieces work over a long period of time.

Yup, and I don't mean to imply i know the answer. It would give us some more info on the topic for sure. My guess is there would be results available to support either argument .
