Whether you're a Tannehill apologist or not, I think we all wanted him to succeed. Through 14 games last year, I personally thought we were looking at our next long-term answer at QB. For being in his second year, last year, it looked like there was plenty of promise and a bright future for him.

What I need help with is to understand what we are now seeing from Tanne. He doesn't look like the same QB at all. Is it fear, lack or confidence, lack of intelligence, not understanding the system??? I really need someone to explain how he can take such a drastic downward turn in potential and promise so very quickly.

We finally have a running game, and some decent pass protection, but Tannehill looks unfathomably worse than last year, when he was running for his life, getting beat up, and we were terribly one dimensional. How does this happen?

I really believe he knew Sherman's offense in and out and was very good in it even though he had no weapons and no Oline.

Now you're taking a totally green QB who has played a total of five years at the position and telling him to learn a fast uptempo timing offense and he's only 3 pro games in.

Maybe he is having a late "sophomore" year blues. No one can explain why he is playing so bad. Am baffled cos I really believe in the kid.

bingo!!!!!!!!!!

He was just as bad last year. A lot of people just refused to acknowledge the facts. Sherman hid a lot of his weaknesses. That Patriots game last year also gave people a false sense of reality.

Just look at the games in the middle of the year. He was TERRIBLE in quite a few games last year. As bad as he was the last 2 weeks, he was just as bad for most of last season.

He only had maybe 3 good games last year, 4 if you count Balt.

Moore had more in half a year starting in 2011.

Moore > Tannehill.

I wish we knew. I think he has the tools to be a very good QB. He just doesn't seem to know the game. May be too late for him to learn it.

Not going to lie, for my own well being I try to block out a lot of the bad...so it may be selective memory on my part, but was he really this bad last year? I just remember close to 4,000 yards and 24 TDs. The Colts, Falcons, Bengals, Steelers, and Pats games really stick out in my mind from last year. Was it a lot of three and outs last year? Missed throws? Poor decisions?

He was not good in the Baltimore game.

See that is what Im talking about. Whenever Hennehill had a decent game last year, it became a good game on FH. When he had a lone good game vs. the Pats, it was a great game. Bad games were called average and poor games were either ignored or called slightly below average.

Reality is Tannehill was TERRIBLE last season. To this day, even people who are ready to move on from him, call him and average QB. He is not average. He is well below average. Tannehill is one of the worst QBs in the league. He does not do much well. He kills our team in so many aspects of the game.

If Tannehill were an average QB, we wouldve won 11 or 12 games last year.

Here is my QB Take
* It thought it was a mistake to take RT out of the offense he was used to. Plus, Joe did not want to fire Mike Sherman, but he did it to appease his owner. Sherman was maddening last year, but at least the QB understood the system and was comfortable.
* However, I am certainly not down on Bill Lazor. He is a sophisticated OC that is fun to watch. He is a leader and does not sugarcoat things. The issue is not so much Lazor. It is RT is not able to run his system.
* I would be intrigued to see how Matt Moore would do with the same personnel and play calling.
* With all that said, the franchise cannot bench RT. They need to stay with him and see if he is able to improve over the season. He has done some good things in the NFL and it would be a waste to turn the page this early. The team needs to stay with him (as frustrating as he is right now) and hope the lightbulb comes on. I am not blown away with the options for 2015. Winston, Mariota, Cook? Maybe. However, none are slam-dunks. Sam Bradford? I like him and he will be cut. However, he has been injured and there will be competition for his services.

Miami's best path is to figure it out with Tannehill over the next 13 games. No other option right now if he is healthy.

If someone is rooting for Matt Moore to be the starter, they obviously don't have a clue about anything football related.

At this point it's probably lack of confidence. By now he knows there's a good chance he'll be benched come Sunday. There aren't any gimme wins in the NFL, but losing to the Raiders will cinch Matt Moore as the starter for the rest of the season. That's what I believe anyway.

I wish Tannehill wouldn't be such a statue and get mobile. It's okay to run Tanne, really.

I get that Tanne would've been more comfortable but I honestly don't think I could've handled Sherman calling plays for us for another year.

See there it is again. You throw that Bengals game in there. Tannehill was BAD in that game. Our defense completely DOMINATED that game and won it for us. They forced a ton of turnovers that set us up for our scoring and had the game winning safety in OT. A decent QB and we score a bunch on them and win going away. Didnt we pick Dalton off about 17 times in that game?

He was pretty good vs the Pats. He was decent vs. the Steelers. He was good in just the first half vs. the Colts and decent vs. the Falcons. He did have a game winning drive in that one. But, the sad thing is that both the Colts and Falcons defenses were terrible last year. Alex Smith went into Indy and TORCHED them. Atlanta got TORCHED by everyone last year. Yet, we still could not generate a big offensive game vs. them and had to pull it out late.

Our defense dominated all year. To hold teams to 22 or less in 13 of 16 games is remarkable. Any decent team wins at least 10 of those. Then we happened to win 1 of the other 3 games in which we actually gave up more than 22, which should happen here and there anyway.

Tannehill was dog**** last year. Several games against bad teams come to mind where we failed to score points and win. Considering the terrible spots Hennehill put our defense in all year, it is a miracle they surrendered so few points. They couldve been close to the top defense in the league if we couldve ever given them some double digit leads to work with instead of bad field position and pressure to stop the opponent on every drive.

What plays did you guys want Sherman to call? One of the plays that were not one of the 2 or 3 that Tannehill could actually run effectively?

Sherman had serious success in the NFL before. Tannehill has not. Sherman's offense is PROVEN to be effective. It takes players that are competent to execute or it does not matter what you call. Sherman did the best he could with a terrible QB.
