I have been looking at many mock drafts, and the more recent ones have Chris Long going to Miami. I've watched Chris play a couple times, and haven't seen anything that made me say "I want him on my team". I'm not dissing him or anything, I just would like to know some of the positives on him that I haven't seen in my small amount of time watching him.

Hardworker with a pedigree.. Most likely right up Parcells alley

its not the sacks and the tackles that impresses everyone. its his great presence on the line, getting his hands up, putting pressure on the QB, blocking the RB whole in the line. he is everywhere on every play. if zach thomas (always making a play on the ball or ball carrier) was a DE, he'd play just like long.

Think energizer bunny with an attitude. He hustles evrywhere, and I mean everywhere. he shoots the gap amazingly well. he has the ability to "get small" and break through a double team. he is ver strong and moreimportantly game savvy. He has everything it takes, the only knock on him is how much better can he be? Like A.J. Hawk a few years ago, he won't grow much in the pros; he already is one.

well one of his best traits is his motor. the guy is absolutely relentless. powerful initial punch, great technique and was used in a variety of ways at UVA. hard worker, great intangibles, great leader.

non-stop motor all game, reads offense extremely well. has a decent first step, quick hands, explosive. is not that fast, but is great on the run, holding ground, finding the ball quickly. he reads and makes plays in all aspects of the game. stuff he does wont be known in statistical columns quite often... he is a very fundamental player who will contain the o-line allowing the line backers to come in and fill and make tackles.... possibly the best Dline for our 3-4 scheme (better than Dorsey and Ellis would be)

Dorsey i think will get eaten up more and will struggle on the run, struggle with double teams, struggle holding his space, due to him relying more on his speed than using his hands.

dorsey took on double and triple teams all season all the while after being viciously cheap shotted so dont get quite where your coming from.

Huh? Dont know where you got that bud but that is so untrue!

I've watched a few UVA games, and the purpose was to scout Chris Long, if your old enough to remember Howie Long, he is a clone.

If your not, everybody has described him very well, I would just say he seems to always be where the ball is, he will get to the quarterback and his technique is excellent.

Like Dorsey, the kid has tremendous character and you will get 110% on every play, I see him as a can't miss player like Dorsey.........for that reason, if we remain at #1, I would select one of them.

everything I have been reading says he needs to bulk if we think he's gonna be a 3-4 DE in the NFL.

any truth to that, once you put on weight, it's almost a given you slow down.

Chris Long is very good and worthy of a high pick.

I just don't believe he is the top player in this draft.

This on Chris Long.....2007 NOTES:
• Team captain for the second year in a row
• Third in the country in sacks with an average of 1.13/g
• 14 sacks this season which are more than 10 TEAMS (and the same as two other teams)
• Fourth nationally in tackling by a lineman, averaging 6.3 tackles per game
• Tied for 10th in the nation in tackles for loss, averaging 1.58/g
• Tied for sixth in the country among defensive linemen in pass break ups (PBU) with seven
• Tied for fifth in the country among defensive linemen in passes defended (PBU+INTs) with eight
• More than 25 percent of his tackles (.280 to be exact) this season have been for a loss (his career rate is 25 percent

From what I've seen he keeps going for the whole game. But I haven't seen much of the unstoppable/unblockable that I'd look for in No1 pick. Not that I know much....
