Please Please Please,

I can't stand this guy, if we lose were a Super Bowl Pretender? Are you serious, please tell me this guy is that dumb, we beat the Broncos last year on opening day how did that work out??

This just gets me even more upset at the Dolphin Beat writers, are they that dumb?

Sorry guys this game is going to be tough I don't care who's at Qb, the Steelers throw the ball 12-14 times a game, and while not having big ben will hurt them, they still scare me.

And what scares me more now is the same thing that scared me in February, having an entirely new secondary, that will be tested tonight for sure.

The season is 16 games , and last i checked its what you do in November and December that matters as much if not more than an early game on prime time.

So while I would like to see us win, and it appears on paper we should the sky won't fall if we lose.

All be told I think its more important to me that we will all of our divisional games than an opener on Thursday night.

Terrible, and in addition a lot of people are backing off Miami and now considering us over-hyped.

I'm just saying, its one freaking game!

Out!

I agree. If they get their running game going the Steelers only needed Ben to make one or two big plays a game. Batch is capable of making a big play.

This game is actually a bit more important than most important games. Now if we lose that in no way means we are pretenders. That is ludicruous. Salguero wants to push the crapola to get a rise out of fans. He can't seriously think this in his right mind.

Yes, the games in November and December are more important than Sept 7 openers. Plenty of football left. The importance is symbolic and practical. H*(( yeah we want to beat the defending champs on their turf. It is symbolic of us going to the next level.

But, also toward the end of the season we could very well be jockeying vs. the Steelers for a higher slot in the playoff round for homefield advantage or worse fighting over a wildcard spot. So due to tiebreakers and positioning this game could have a roundabout effect on how things unfold in December as far as who plays where in the playoffs.

Great points. Salguero is and has long been a valueless writer. His take is utterly superficial - not recognizing that Rothlisberger is not a critical factor in any single football game (though it would hurt them if he were out over the long haul).

The fact that it's the first game of the season should be enough to curtail expectations. Some teams (the Dolphins last year; Patriots in years past) start slowly.

Anyone recall the year the Patriots started out 1-2 and that included a massacre against the Bills (something like 45-0)? Everyone thought the Pats were dead. Of course, they won the SB!

Batch will also perform better b/c he hasn't been sitting on the bench for 8 straight weeks. He's been getting plenty of PT during the pre-season, so there is little doubt he'll be as ready as Big Ben would have been. In fact, this situation sets up perfectly for the Steelers ...

* Their players at other positions will pick things up;
* Batch is as game ready as any QB at this point in the year;
* The home crowd will be going wild;

I would not be surprised at all of the Steelers win. Either way, Win or Lose, one cannot make a determination about the season from this one game (unless we lose players to injury).

Why do you even read the Miami Herald, I gave up on them a long time ago. All I read now is www.finheaven.com. If you believe, then don't worry about tonight and let Saban bring home the gold. If you don't believe, keep reading the Miami Herald and let Salguero keep playing with your mind.

Go fins...!!

The Steelers won the Super Bowl, and had to get there through a late season push. What happens tonight means less than what happens in November. Daunte STILL needs to make it through an entire game. Our O line needs to gel, and our secondary needs to prove themselves.

Jason Allen might be lost now, but by week 8 he will have a really good grasp on this defense. A stud at saftey will make a difference late in the season.

Screw the Herald.

Salguero isn't a Dolfan, he only writes for the Herald because of the money, the beaches, and the women. Oh, wait, scratch off that last one...

ouch....

If We Beat The Steelers And The Steelers Suck This Year, So What Does That Mean? We Are Contenders? It Would Be A Big Win Because They Were Last Years World Champs And Its Their First Home Game Since. Everyone In Pittsburg Will Be Pumped. Tough Road Game.

Would you please start a "Stop worrying, this game isn't the end of the world" thread, and just print what you rightly point out about NE? Please?
