This may not seem like a big deal, but, I'm watching the Dolphins first game right now and just noticed something. On the Steelers first TD drive, it was 3rd and long from about midfield. Charlie Batch tucked it and ran for about 10 yards. Now, here's the thing I noticed. They spoted the ball just shy of the 39. The first down marker was in between the 38 and 39 so that made it 4th and 1. I watched the play in slow motion, and he should've been spotted between the 41 and the 40. This would have made it a very long 4th and 2. Maybe Cowher wouldn't have gone for it and punted.

I know it's not much, but just something that makes me a little angry. Of course the Steelers got a first and ended up getting a TD. If you guys want to check it out for yourselfs, and have it recorded, it happend with 1:22 left in the 1st quarter. Do you guys have any errors, ommissions or comments you would like to point out?

As the game progresses, I noticed another bad call. With 10:20 to play in the second quarter, Daunte fired a pass to Marty which I thought looked like a catch, but they ruled it incomplete. It's the play where Marty hurt his wrist. He caught it, was hit down, and then it popped out. Man this is getting me fired up. LOL!

There were alot of bad calls/ non calls. On Ronnies second TD, Mcmike could have got called for holding. No complaints here though :)

I don't recall many replays of that on the live telecast. But, from what I recall, it seemed to me that he didn't maintain control throughout. It appeared that he had the ball, but when he was hit and drove into the ground the ball came loose. Thus, no catch. Again, this is going from memory of very few replays though.

I just watched it again, and it appeared he landed on the ball with his hand underneath. Idk, I know the game is over and I should let it go, but I'm going to continue and watch. By the way, Daunte has thrown some beautiful strikes in the first half despite tremendous pressure from the Steelers. I'm counting, and there has been 4 or 5 times where Daunte was forced to either throw it early, or escape his drop and flea for space.

Just picked up another one. With 6:27 to play in the 1st half, Thomas got a sack on Batch where Charlie threw it at the last second. They ruled it an incomplete pass, but his knee was down before the ball was released.

LOL, the very next play there should've been a PI call on Tillman. Funny how bad the officials are these days.

I think something Roger Goddell could do to start his tenure, would be to get rid of these old officials. I know it would cause an uproar from all these guys who have been here forever, but it's getting ridiculous. I want to see guys in there 20's-40's out there who are in tip top shape.

the nfl needs to find some new refs, this has been happening in the last couple of years

i lost faith in officiating on the "tuck" rule, when you have the ball down by your thigh and get hit and drop the ball, and that is a forward pass you start wondering if the nfl gets refs from the mental ward

I noticed the spot as well during the game I was screaming for a challenge. I also wanted Saban to challenge the play where marty booker got his bell rung. looked as if he caught it and the ground caused the fumble. I think Saban needs to get a little more aggressive with the red flag.IMO

What the league needs to do is replace every retiring part time official with a full time official. It may take 10-15 years to be rid of the part timers, but this is really the only solution. Full time officials should be sent out to NFLE to work during their season and should spend the rest of the offseason in training. These guys should be able to call a near-flawless game in their sleep.

Yep, 2 plays that could've rendered huge in the outcome of the game. The same two that I noticed in the first half.

I agree 100% Jimmy. There has to be 100 officials in this world who can call a nearly perfect game.

well this week we arent going to lose to refs so we are just going to have to put up 30 points lol

well i got one problem with the officials . i live in steeler country so i've watched the steelers quite a bit over the years and one thing i have a beef with pitts never gets called for holding. back in 03 they never got called for 1 holding penalty and that is hogwash. i saw atleast 4 no holding calls in the miami game that weren't called. ex players say you could call holding every play , don't know about that but lets cut the bias calls. the superbowl was a great indication of this.

Man, I just saw the infamous "non-challenge" play. Miller was out of bounds at the 3 yard line. I have supreme confidence that our boys could've held them from a TD in that situation.

i think saban was going to challenge but the officials informed him of the futility of it, maybe someone else knows the reason why...
