Although it's an unpopular thought by some, Martin is yet another wasted Ireland draft pick as he will never contribute to the team again.

the fact that we are losing the services of a recent second round pick is not lost on anyone. somehow making ireland psychic and blaming him for jonathan martin's future behavior should be lost on everyone.

It is what it is. Martin is lucky he has a Stanford education because he will never play another down in the NFL. No way anyone could have predicted this would happen.

I'm sorry. Aren't GMs typically fired because of their past decisions?

You really needed to start a brand new thread to point this out?

I don't blame him for the pick after all Martin was a good tackle prospect from a school that would indicate he was a smart high character guy. I do blame him for relying on him to be the starting LT when he sucked last year and came forward with emotional issues in the offseason. He should have replaced Martin as LT this offseason at all costs.

Martin may have inadvertently ended some careers before they ever began...

If a GM is scouting a player with some "softness" issues, you think they will spend a draft pick on them in hopes of "toughening them up" after this fiasco?

At all costs? So you'd be pleased with Long @10mil/year (or whatever he's making in St Louis) in lieu of, say, Wallace? Or, say, Gibson and Ellerbe? Or perhaps Johnson instead of Jordan?

Not being aggressive, just curious.

Martin *should've* grown into the position. Who knew he was to turn out like this...

There're many things to blame Ireland for. This one is a bit of a stretch.

I think this is a very valid point.

Ireland has been hurting our chances of executing a quality re-build in the last years due to his inefficiency at drafting THE RIGHT PLAYERS!!!!

2nd round picks for Ireland are the same as us playing the Texans it always turns out the Dolphins loose.

He was also incredibly weak for the position, and that has been a clear issue. But, Ireland took him anyway.

I can't really blame Ireland for the guy being nuts...but I can blame him for taking a weak ass ***** as an LT.

Obviousley going into that draft LB, DT, RB, wasn't a need for us. After the turn style which was COLOMBO, RT, was our biggest need after QB.. JONATHAN MARTIN before he left the team had the most start among the 2nd round draftees. So if you want to blame Ireland on a fail pick, you better blame some of the other teams as well since they didn't do any any better. The only player, who you could say unequivocally would have been a better draft pick based what was needed was Alshon Jeffery. So, Ill give you that. But godam you people sometimes.. Again, let's not let the facts get in the way of course.

of course. but not for two-years-down-the-road mental freakouts by players with no red flags on their pre-draft psych evals. just like an injury to a non-injury prone player. can't blame the gm. sorry if that doesn't further the fire ireland agenda.
