If I remember correctly Jason Taylor was the most prominent Dolphin player to defend Nick Saban as he left. It wasn't explicit, but I do remember Jason rationalizing Saban's departure and feeling grateful to him for the way he was utilized under his tenure. Anyone else remember this?

Yeah - To the media..

Do you know what he said about Saban behind closed doors? Im sure it wasnt pretty.

Saban earned Taylors respect. Like Saban, Like Ricky, and now Like Taylor, I don't necessarily have a problem with what they did, I have a problem with how they did it. Saban could have gone back to college, I wouldn't have minded, I just wish he didn't lie about it. If Ricky wanted to retire, he should have done it at the end of the season, no one would have been mad at him for that. And if Taylor really wanted to be gone, he should made it clear before he even got on DWTS.

I think that was probably the beginning

of this scenario. During the offseason of the year before Saban left JT was forced to turn down a part (Although I try to block out memories of that movie, I suspect it would have been one of Blackheart's demonic minions - don't ask) in the Ghost Rider film. At the time I thought Jason Taylor privately felt betrayed despite not expressing this to the media, but now I think he understood and identified with Saban's mercenary instinct.

I'm not saying this to badmouth Jason Taylor. I do think that there are fans who were willing to forgive Jason at the time for supporting the traitor coach (given that he was coming off DPOY), but now see his support in a different light.

he turned him in to DPOY. He used Taylor's abilities to perfection.
that's one thing you have to give Saban credit for. But other than that....

I hate that man!!!!!!

I can understand Taylor doing that though. Remember, Saban allowed Taylor to become the Defensive MVP by featuring him as a 34 rush OLB. Also, I don't think there is any question that despite many DB's not liking Saban personally, we were a far better defense under Saban than we were without him. Like him or not, Saban is a very good defensive coach.

Plus, Saban's leaving meant 2 things, 1) that Taylor would be stuck in a rebuilding scenario--again, and 2) the defense was likely to suffer with the hiring of an offensive coach. Both of those things really irked Taylor.

What I remember was a player of the Miami Dolphins said he supported his coach.
Then after said coach left, I remember a man saying he understands another man doing something in his life that he felt must be done for the betterment of his life and his families welfare.

Right or wrong. I understand.

I agree 100 % why lie and say your not going .

Oh please. Here comes the JT fan club to make excuses. At the time, it was not the right thing to do. He ditched this team.

Look at the Falcons players and their reactions to Petrino. I think a real TEAM leader would have come out and stated the truth - he quit on this team.

But, who cares. Saban is a tool.
