In the early 80's Arnsparger leaves to take the head coaching job at LSU. This is really when the whole spiral occurred. The defense was still efficient, but you could see the change. We draft one of the greatest QBS in league history and the coach totally abandons the rush. We're cursed with Olivadummy for ten years. Jimmy Johnson comes in and has control issues with the QB. We live through Dumbstadt, Satan, and Shameron. We get Sparano and every gets excited but he never advances, mediocre seems to be the flavor of the day. We draft Pat White, a move that rivals the Dumbstadt years. We seem to be stuck in a hole with no way out.

Oh, I forgot. In the mid 80's we have a LB, Mark Brown, that solidifies the defense and things are looking up. After the season he wants a new contract and the team elects to not give him one. He leaves and the defense goes to sh@#t.
