Funny thing to watch with Bonds. He just went 10-16 in spring training with 4 home runs.

If he has a MONSTER year this year, and is still the same size he has always been, WITH DRUG TESTING IN MLB now.........then MLB is screwed! If he is the same size, if he is still putting up numbers then what case can be made for taking his records off the books???

Because he has already taken steroids to make him his current size, the damage is already done, whether he continues to take them or not

But when you STOP taking them, you get smaller! You dont take them and keep that size for life.

he was putting up big numbers before he supposly took roids

and if he puts up big numbers NOW when he isn't on steroids cause of the drug testing they know for sure, its gonna be tough to erase his records off the book. Cause if he did it before and after, how can you say he wouldn't have done it inbetween?

Look we all know he did it, but MLB is in a tough spot if he has a huge year this year. That's all Im saying.

I'm sure hes still taking all sorts of stuff. The tests are so pathetically primitive....it doesnt take much for a creative chemist to get around them. All those people at balco were doing was taking some molecular compound and adding a couple elements so it wouldnt react the same way to the testing agent, yet still maintain the same properties.

theres no way he can get around drug testing now. if hes doing it, he would test positive.

There are ways to get around it. Plus he still could be taking growth suppliments as those don't show up in urine. Plus a urine sample isn't the best way to test, blood is much more effective and would show you a lot more of what's actually in your system.

If Bonds puts up a big year I don't think that means a thing. He was going to be in the Hall of Fame before all of the juicing he did. Remember he was always one of the top 10 all around baseball players in pretty much every year he played. He wasn't just a home run hitter like Sammy Sosa. Plus like everyone on the board is saying who knows exactly how clean he is still.

Good point however remember we didn't see Bonds most of the 2005 season, he was out of public eye due to his injury. It is possible that he did get smaller and then put the muscle/weight back on.

Perfect example is Giambi, he was extremely small in 2005 at the beginning of the year and then out of nowhere he got bigger again around June/July when he started hitting again.

The difference like you noted was that I think Bonds was a great player before the roids. When he started to take 'roids allegedly Bonds already had was a 400/400 guy and a great player. I was skeptical and so was much of the media once Giambi went on a tear after his face grew back. Bonds is a great player regardless of the 'roids allegations and seems to be the whipping boy for the whole steroid debate. If it were down to the hall of fame, Bonds is in regardless, he was a hall of famer before he started taking roids, allegedly. Bonds is hated by the media and the perception of him among fans has killed him. McGwire does not get any heat because he was more liked among fans and the media. Funny how when baseball needed steroids to bring the game back not one fan cared but now everybody does, weird how that works.

Hopefully the Commissioner of MLB will ban him so he can never play again.

That's baseball for you. Do you actually think anyone in the MLB Offices would have cared about steroids when McGwire and Sosa were putting butts back in the seats after the 1994 strike? Of course not. Baseball only started to do something once the whole BALCO thing started.
