Source: Dolphins, Langford talking extension

langford is a solid core player here. wake has 2 years i beleive but i do agree lock him up. i think with soliai they are waiting to see his performance b/c rite now his price is real high. if they wait a few games it could come down (i hope not) or it could go up in which case they should prob lock him up mid season like fasano last year just to prevent having to pay EVEN more at the end of this year or spend another franchise tag on him.

Solid young NT's aren't cheap . . . and you better resign him now while there is still some wiggle room before he blows up this season and the Fins will be in a race to sign him long term at that franchise number. You can still get him at a discount right now.

Yep no more the one tag!

This move is a must, good to see they're getting it done before it could potentially become an issue.

Good post. With so many teams now running a 3-4 defense, players like Solai and Langford will command a great deal of money on the open market. Locking both up RIGHT NOW helps to ensure that you pay less than you would competing against other teams in Free Agency. Hopefully if this rumor is true, Miami is planning to get Big Paul Solai locked up next. Both players are important to Miami's defensive success.

I'm glad Miami is about to start extending some of the core players; Langford has been consummate professional, ever since he was drafted ... would love to see him get extended and be here long term .. Soliai, i can understand the F/O's hesitation, He's only done it for 1 year ... let him truly earn it, by playing like he did last season, 1 more year!!! and as far as Wake is concerned, if he plays like he did last season, I'm sure they will extend him as well ... glad to see the F/O managing the cap situation properly .. good job!!!

This is a great move, hopefully he signs so Langford can be a Dolphin for a loooooong time. Guy is a beast, one of the best 3-4 DE in the league!

Roflmao! Free up cap space and extend a 3-4 DE! Not Solia not Wake, but a 3-4 DE! Up next Lenord Davis.

Wake isn't a FA for a few years and isn't causing a fuss. He'll get his extension but no need to rush. You don't need to free up space to extend Solia. He's already counting close to 11 million against the cap. Highly unlikely that extending him would cost more than that. Langford is one of the best 3-4 ends in the league. You lock him up while you can. The fact that you're laughing at that is funny

Langford is definitely one of this regime's better finds in the draft & undrafted categories (right up there with Bess and Carpenter IMO). Many called Langford a reach when he got drafted in the 3rd, but I believe there would be many many good teams dying to get ahold of this guy if he ever hit the open market. Definitely one of Ireland and Co.'s better moves!

Great news! Langford is about as solid as it gets. We better lock Wake in soon before we can't afford him.

This would be the best move of the offseason so far if they can tie him up long term without breaking the bank
