Sources tell miami herald Jason Taylor to retire following season

Don't care. Going to the Jets sealed his fate in the minds of some fans.

IMO THE WAY I SEE IT IF I WANTED TO PLAY THE SPORT I LOVED and TRIED to go bk to the team that i had played for for most of my time in the NFL and they didnt want me ,and i still wanted to play then im sorry i wouldnt care who i played for because im going to play the game i love even if my team pushed me out the door ,i would do what it took to keep playing THE GAME I LOVED

It was a great shame he wore the Jets uni but he still achieved enough for the Phins and against the Jets to make him a Miami legend. One of the few new generational players we can be proud of. People will remember him in aqua, not for Washington or New York.

Thanks for the memories JT. Retire the 99 and get him in the hall.

Jason Taylor is one of the greatest Dolphins on all time. One of my favorite plays was him stripping the QB, snatching the ball and running the other way for a TD.

I love JT.

The whole Jets debacle was an atrocity at the time it happened.. but as the facts seemed to come out as the months went on, it was evident he had only one opportunity to continue playing in the NFL.
A stellar career with a ton of wonderful memories. After a few years of retirement, the majority will be able to step back and relish how amazing an NFL player, not just a Miami Dolphin he was.

they clearly offered Jason a 2-year contract extension during the 2009 season, and another one before joining the Jets in the off-season.....he didn't want us

lol at couch potato fans calling out this hall of fame caliber football player and Miami Dolphin. get a life. seriously.&nbsp;<div id="myEventWatcherDiv" style="display:none;"></div>

Report: Jason Taylor set to call it quits Sunday

Jason Taylor, one of the NFL's top sack specialists of all time, is expected to call an end to his legendary career Sunday, according to a Miami Herald report Tuesday.
The newspaper, citing two Dolphins sources, reports Taylor has decided to step aside for good as the team's all-time sacks leader following Sunday's home game against the New York Jets.
The Herald said it was unclear if Taylor planned to hold a press conference before Miami's final 2011 game to formally end his 15-year career.
With 139.5 sacks, active league leader Taylor is sixth on the NFL's career list. The Pennsylvannia native trails only Bruce Smith, Reggie White, Kevin Greene, Chris Doleman and Michael Strahan among sack leaders.
Taylor, who became a free agent when the New York Jets released him in March, signed in August to rejoin the Dolphins. He has played in all 15 games for Miami, including one as a starter.
Taylor, who turned 37 in September, spent his first 11 seasons with the Dolphins and has long lived in South Florida. He played for Washington in 2008, then rejoined the Dolphins in 2009, and last year he had hoped for an offer to remain in Miami, but signed instead with the Jets.
The six-time Pro Bowler holds Dolphins career records for sacks (143), opponents' fumble recoveries (27), fumble returns for touchdowns (6), defensive touchdowns (9) and interceptions by a defensive lineman (7). His best season was in 2006, when he was the NFL defensive player of the year.
