"Reggie Bush is going to be the first runner out the gate here," said Sparano. "I mean he's going to be the starting running back."

Don't know if this was already posted... But does this settle who gets the majority of carries? Sparano sounds very specific about how he worded it.

He should be the "starter", based on his experience, work ethic, and what he offers for us. However, starter doesn't mean much on this team if you aren't the QB (some can even argue that). I still think DT will get quite a few carries this year.

He is earning it fo' sho. HE is bringing so much to this team right now other than just his skills on the field. I think he is excited and motivated to prove to NO that he can do more than they let him do as well. Got to love his attitude right now. And what do you know...looks like he can run between the Tackles after all.

I have to refer to your signature.

"Pro Bowl
Super Bowl
Occasionally Smokes a Bowl"

My guess is that Sparano not only occasionally smokes a bowl, but he's constantly smoking a bowl, because that's what it would take to believe that the scatback Bush is a starting running back. He's a scatback, not a #1. Captain Fistpump is so lost it's mind boggling.

Bush will start, but I still think Thomas will finish the year with more carries.

lol wasn't it part if the deal we made when we signed him? Wasn't he promised to be the featured back?

Reggie Bush's issue has always been health/durability. I have watched Bush closely since he came into the league and he hasn't looked this fresh since his first year. As long as he stays healthy and continues to grind it out and be productive for the majority of games, he will get the bulk of the carries. If we have a lead of 10+ points or more in the 3rd/4th Quarters, then I am sure Thomas will start pounding the ball away to keep the clock/chains going. As long as Bush stays healthy, I think Reggie will have a career year here, and hopefully we can extend his current 2-year contract.

I saw this quote too and it worry's me, but I think its just a smoke-screen and sparano is not going to come right out and say yea reggie is gonna tote the rock 20-25 times a game, reggie will open the game up as the starting rb but thomas will get the bulk of the carries, and larry johnson or lex will get a couple short yardage or goal line carries, if the coaching staff is smart they should not give reggie more then 10-12 carries a game if that, he is way to valuable to this offense and he has serious injury concerns, he should be used as a slot receiver and a change of pace back, run reverses and all that good stuff but in no way should he be the guy to carry the load in the running game.

I get that, Bush is a part of the new wide open offense they want to run, so naturally he will start and be spelled by the other guys....makes sense to me.

Well we kinda saw that and if he runs all year like he did in game two. We have our self a good starting running back.
