because i think Parcells killed 2 birds with one stone when he hired Mike Nolan, if this team under achieves this season, i would not be a bit surprised to see Sparano go bye bye, and Mike Nolan take over. I dont know why but the more i see of Sparano, the less impressed i am. I think he is real good at bubble gum chewing, wearing (cheap sunglasses @night), and getting overly excited when we make FG's, but to me he doesnt ooze the confidence of a leader like a Belichick, Andy Reed, Mike Tomlin, Jeff Fisher, these types. Sparano is a a GREAT cheerleader, not so much a great HC.

I hope he proves me wrong :)

Yes, Sparano needs to step it up. Big Time. He needed to this year, but did not. I am not sure he will, but he will be given the chance to prove me and others wrong. I think we will be sitting here next year with a new coach, hoping that he can get the pieces in place to make this team elite. Unfortunately, TS, IMO, doesn't have a clue.

You are nuts. Mike Nolan was such a success as a head coach that he was fired in mid-season. Sparano is doing a great job. His team plays hard every week. The team is deficient in talent and experience. The team needs a major upgrade in talent and they need their young players to mature. It is not a coaching problem. Sparano has done some things during games that I disagreed with, but I have seen everyone of those other coaches you mentioned do things during games that I thought was ridiculous also.

I feel the same way if sparano doesnt pull threw this time it will be bye-bye,and nolan would fit nice. I like sparano he knows what to say at the right time, also about the cheerleading how many big plays did miami have? I was doing back filps too when I saw one, so I say this is his last shot.... GoodLuck....

You do realize he wears sunglasses all the time, including at night because his eyes are sensitive to light. When he was in high school, he worked at a restaurant and had grease splashed into his eyes. He lost his sight for a couple of weeks and still deals with sensitivity to light. Wearing sunglasses all the time shouldn't be a knock against someone who has a medical problem.

The gum chewing is a little much in my opinion, not necessarily during the games as it probably helps ease him, but he should spit it out before post game conferences. Still though, are we really sinking that low that we are taking shots at him for CHEWING GUM?

He may have a bit of a cheerleader quality and celebrating field goals and first downs, but he instills confidence in his players and keeps their hopes up. Would you really rather a non-emotional guy like Dick Juaron?

Sparano had one bad year after a season that is considered one of, if not the greatest, turnaround in NFL history. Nolan was brought in to be a defensive coordinator, that is it. He is not head coach material, but is one of the best defensive coordinators in the league. It is easy to pick a part a coach after a losing season, but people should not be giving up on Tony after just two seasons. Two seasons which I remind you produced 18 wins, a division title and a trip to the playoffs. To put that in perspective, we had 7 total wins the previous two seasons without Sparano, hadn't made the playoffs since 2001 and hadn't won a division title since 2000.

I still support Sparano and do believe he is the right guy going forward. I think he experienced a sophomore slump but with a good season and a bad season under his belt it was a great learning experience. While GeauxFinns3705 thinks we will have a new coach at this time next year, I think we all will be talking about the contract extension Sparano will be getting from the Dolphins.

If wearing sunglasses, chewing gum, and getting too excited for FG's are your main complaints, then I think Sparano is doing something right.

If your referring to his clock management I agree. I think we all do. I also think he will get better at making split second decisions with a couple years under his belt. We have had non-injury prone seasons and a really bad injury prone season, I expect some injuries this year but not like what we recently incurred. With that being said I believe he will have a good year because we have the Jets # and the Patriots are on the downfall (hopefully welker wont be himself till week 10 or so) and the Bills LOL.

I'm looking forward to the "Jersey fist pump"
on field goals hopefully Sparano can train and utilize his left fist this season.

lol press 1 if you've been a lame before and worn sunglasses in a club....

I know some of you have you can admit it lol....

What is it in Nolan's resume that suggests to you he's an upgrade over Sparano as HC?

Tony should be fired right now! You see how he coached the Sr. Bowl. There was way too much emotion, his sunglasses were on way too much of the time and he musta went through 2 packs of gum!

I think Sparano is a joke. He totally lost me with the whole Joey thing. Don't rock the Joey boat? Letting a player not sub out like he's supposed to? Not to mention sticking with guys who continued to hurt the team like Wilson and Ginn. Or the tired celebrations after every little 3 points. Or allowing Henning to call some of those retarded plays last year.
