Here is what Sparano said in this mornings press briefing on Ricky:

Sparano when asked "Do you have respect for Ricky Williams respect for the history of the game of football"?
"Yeah a little bit, yeah I do. Ricky Williams is a very intelligent guy, I mean he knows about the history, he knows about the history here in Miami, he can talk to you about that in great length of those things..but uhh..you know this game is important to Ricky and I mean, where he is right now in this game is pretty important to him, I know that and you know maybe he'll be a little part of history at some point here to.

Sparano when asked "What convinces you that this game is important to him"?
His work ethic, his commitment, right now to this football team, all the things, all the signs that I see, again when I walked into this situation I walked in this being a blank piece of paper and I just wanted to go ahead and see what I see, use my eyes, that's something I learned from Bill Parcells, from Jeff Ireland, use my eyes and ya know I think Ricky since the day I've been here has proven to me that he's very committed to this football team and to this organization, being the best guy that he can be, best teammate he can be.

Sparano when asked "Does Ricky give a play caller more options since he can kinda turn the corner a little bit...or is that rare"?
What's rare....What's rare is that you know in the game the other night he turned the corner a couple times on plays that you're not supposed to the corner...they're not built that way and HE DID IT, and that again the good runners can do that, it's kinda buyer beware watch out...you know I mean you go out there you better gain yards is what I tell them and he gains yards and he does a good job with his vision and he can circle the defense...that helps if you got a guy that can do that and from aa defensive standpoint they're worried about him circling the defense and getting on the perimeter a little bit, it helps you when you run the ball between the tackles, certainly we know he can do that.

Seems like Sparano is really talking up Ricky...I really think they know what an incredible talent they have in Ricky no matter what his past has been and I know they love the guy because of what he brings to the football team.
I'm telling you this football team wouldn't be the same this year without Ricky, Ricky right now is the focal point of this offense. Without him this year this offense would be nothing close to what it could be with him on the team.
Not with the runners we have besides Ricky.
I loved the part where Sparano said "Maybe Ricky will be a little part of history at some point here to"
I hope he's still here if or when we win a superbowl..and I really think Ricky would love a SB ring to, to be a bigger part of the Miami Dolphins history and to clear his name.

Good stuff. I hope he is everything he says he is and more.

If Ricky starts beasting again and we win the bowl with him on the team in the next few years.......bronze statue baby. Ricky is the man.

What I highlighted in Red... that's the best line... I'm hoping we see lots of that this year, especially with the much improved o-line.

Yeah 209Mason that's what made him so special in 2002, he could beat you outside when the played wasn't supposed to go that way...Like Sparano said that is a great advantage when the D needs to worry about that.

If Ricky didn't have some of the problems he has had(self imposed). By the time his career was over he would have been one of the best of all time.

Also I don't think the NFL should test for marijuana. I know they do not test for it in the NBA.

hmmmmm.... get paid millions or smoke pot? wouldn't be too tough for me to decide. I agree on Ricky's troubles. If he didn't get mixed up he most certainly could have been one of the best of all time.

Ricky's not getting a bronze statue no matter what he does. The people that vote in that room have looooooong memories. The NFL will not enshrine a man that publicly quit football because he wanted to freely smoke marijuana. If he'd managed to keep his big mouth shut about that last bit, maybe he'd have a slight chance...if he tore it up for the next 4 years. But, now he can tear it up for the next 8 years and it won't matter.

Ricky wouldn't want a statue anyway. All he wants is to clear his name and make some money to take care of his family. 2 more years of Ricky. Soak it up while you can because he's leaving the NFL after next season.... if not this one???

I think WV was just kidding a little bit CK...

Although it would be nice if Ricky could at least play on a Dolphins SB team.

I was talking about a bronze statue on the opposite end of Dolphin Stadium from where Marino's is.

Canton is a bronze bust. No statues there.
