Coach Tony Sparano said Tuesday there's "no chance" the Dolphins will trade Ronnie Brown.
"There was no discussion of that internally or externally," said Sparano, who said the rumor wasn't a tough one to dispel. "That is easy," he said. "I wish they were all like that."

They love the 2 RB system, I knew they wouldn't have dealt him. I mean come on Ricky and Cobbs? Ricky and Jalen (who is coming a long nicely)? It wouldn't make sense, they would be setting us up for failure.

Hmmm...the Beck "rumor" wasn't so forcefully rebuffed.

Q: "Is there any chance you might trade Ronnie Brown?"
A: "No. No chance that we're trading Ronnie. I understand another rumor's flying around out there one way or the other, ok. Last week it was Beck, this week it's Ronnie. I mean, there was NO discussion of that internally or externally. None."

Very strong answer.

I personally think the platooning runningbacks will be a wave of the future for NFL teams.

I was thinking about this yesterday driving back from Football.

Think of the running backs that had crazy seasons. Jamal Lewis, Shawn Alexander, Terrel Davis, just to name a few. It took years in some cases to get healed right for some ie(Jamal Lewis) and others never really got back to where they were.

I think the grind is too tough now a days to play all those downs and stay playing at a high level.

The two back system like Dallas had last year will be what every team is striving for IMO over the next couple of years.

Actually, yeah it was. He similarly said, point blank, "No" and went on to explain that he is about to practice with the team, and he talked about how he notices rumors flying around out there about all manner of things that just aren't based in anything.

And notice, this time around, he flat out equated those John Beck rumors to these Ronnie Brown rumors. So this forceful denunciation of the Ronnie Brown rumor also sort of extends to the John Beck rumor because he explicitly put the two rumors in the same boat.

I stand corrected. That was a quick first impression, I actually hadn't clicked on the link...just commented based on the original post. Didn't realize that Beck was referenced, nor did I realize that Sparano was specifically asked, "Is there any chance.." IMO that's different than simply being asked, "Will Ronnie be traded..." and then Sparano offering that there is zero chance.

Yeah. One thing is, I think Bill Parcells doesn't care about getting his hands dirty, ending up looking like a liar when he says things like Jason Taylor will either play for the Miami Dolphins in 2008 or retire. But, Sparano does care, I watched how he handled the JT thing and he never said anything that he knew could end up contradicted.

This time around, what he said about Ronnie was as clear and concise as Nick Saban saying "I will not be the head coach at Alabama." If they up and trade Ronnie anyway, Sparano will have been thoroughly contradicted and I don't think he'd risk that if he thought there was any chance of it happening that way.

It would not suprise me if Parcelss let Mort float the idea out there to see what the trade market is for Brown. I don't think they would trade him for anything other than a 1st.

The FO is just doing their due dilligence and making sure no rock is unturned or trade option is explored. And it helps if you have a national sounding board to float rumors in Mort.

:logic:

Exactly how I see it, too.
