Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano suggested Tuesday that he will give significant playing time to his young players, but not a lot to some of his older veterans, during Friday’s preseason opener at Atlanta.
“You’ve got to identify that I don’t really need to see this guy but I need to see this guy this week a lot,” Sparano said. “At some point, we have to separate this team quickly and get to the guys who are going to play. I don’t need to see Jason Taylor right now and those kind [of players].
“But there are some other guys that I really need to see like a [wide receiver] Roberto Wallace. These guys will play a little bit more early.”
Because of the effects of the lockout, Sparano said, “We are going to have a little more ambitious walk-through than normal Thursday because you can’t make those throw away practices.”
