Speaking in terms of talent alone...

That would be my range also. Before I saw your post, I was thinking 18-25 and decided 18 was probably too high but I would lead with that since anything lower would be accosted.

We're kidding ourselves if we think we have above average to significantly above average talent. Just like anyone who thought we ever had a Super Bowl roster during the Wanny years was a damn rose-colored-lenses fool. It helps me to live in Las Vegas and work in the sports betting industry. The guys who work around me aren't fans and aren't fooled. None of them think we have a talented roster. I've quizzed them repeatedly and no one is impressed.

Neither am I. When I looked at our roster late last year I damn near collapsed in a seizure of horror. It was literally the most pathetic journeymen collection in my 30+ years of following this team. Definitely better now, especially after Saban correctly prioritized the defensive line, which was a farce last year. But you can't undo Speilman's string of personnel disasters in scant months.

Last year Feeley was 3rd to last in yards per pass attempt among all QBs who played regularly. A pitiful 5.32 YPPA. Ahead of only a rookie (Manning) and a has-been (Brunnell). That alone stamps us below the level many of the early posts in this thread have estimated. Our offensive line, defensive tackles, outside linebackers and safeties are also below the league average. Minus Surtain we're now a questionmark at CB. The depth isn't great anywhere.

Confirmation will be the number of rookies who make this team. A stacked roster doesn't find room for the number of first timers Saban will undoubtedly embrace.

We are on the same page my friend, and I was being (a little) generous.

In terms of talent alone, I'd say we're around 12-18...but in terms of talent alone, I'd put the Patriots are there too.
