This OLB should make the team for depth.....he brings it off the edge....even though he is going up against 4th stringers I like his motor......

Spears

Do you guys think he'll make the roster over any of the other low-end lb's?

He had a pretty sweet sack tonight and seems to be a quick pass rusher, though its against the camp fodder

Dudes first step is explosive. Someone else brought him up a few weeks ago, and CK (I believe) provided a video. He gets it off the edge. However, we already have 5 OLB's who will most likely make the team. Unless we cut Ike or Trusnick (sp) I think they will try to stash him on the practice squad. Im not sure he will last there though, other peolple will see that explosiveness as well.

He is definitely quick off the edge . . . its gonna be tough: Wake, Misi, JT, Dansby, Burnett, Edds . . . I'd keep him over Francis and Spitler. Mitchell seems like a good guy as the 4th ILB and Trusnick is a good special team guy. Doubt we keep more than 8. Even despite his explosive 4th quarter, maybe he still makes it to the PS.

I'd definitely keep him over Spitler atleast

I think he cracked the 53 tonight. He flashed several times throughout the preseason. It also appears Livas is in as no one else took KR/PR reps. Livas even made a nice play late on O. Corner remains the question for me. I think Wilson made it, could be Carroll out...

His special teams skills of blocked punts will get him on team.
he had a bunch in college, has he had any success in pre season on that front?

Kudos to the scouting department on that one. That was a deep deep diamond in the rough and looks to have an excellent first step. He looks to be that kind of player who will get cut by his original team due to numbers but reward another team who claims him via waiver wire.

He's a poor man's Mike Vrabel. Just a few pounds lighter.

I think Ness is out before Carroll. And if we keep 6 receivers, I'd bet Moore earned a spot over Livas. Other than that one return, he didn't show much imo

That was me that brought him up. Kept reading about him getting sacks in camp and CK pulled up the video. He's only around 235 lbs though but he's clearly very athletic (was a DE in college) and has an explosive first step. I'm hoping he makes it to the practice squad, puts on some muscle and comes back next year ready with a better understanding of playing the OLB spot in the 3-4. He can take Jason Taylor's spot next year, I don't really see a spot for him this year unless we cut Taylor. Ike Alama-Francis is more of a strong side OLB so you need to keep him to back up Misi. Spears would have a lot of trouble setting the edge at his weight.

Benny Sapp didn't play either. Don't know if that means he's in or not. Nate Ness is gone IMO. The other question is did Gerald Alexander do enough for us to cut Tyrone Culver?

Sapp played early . . . got schooled by Ogletree on the first drive. Agree with the Culver/Alexander battle too. Sparano has always like Culver.

Yep, I remember now that Sapp was defending on that play.

Maybe Im missing something but Edds hasn't shown much. He got run over on one play. Is he guaranteed a job. Alama-Francis really hasn't done anything this preseason either. Id rather keep Spears who seems to have some raw ability.
