As I sit here and watch the Packers / Saints game there have already been 2 run back TD's and another 40 yard run by Sproles.

Could it be that player movement and short training camps = poor special teams and lots of long runs and TD's this year?

Hope that #85 is on the practice squad.

We may see Bush back there sooner than later.

Last year our not so special teams lost the Pats game for us.

New nfl kickoff rules so far not stopping big returns on special teams

Sitting here watching the opening game between saints and packers. Both teams have returns for touchdowns sproles the guy to replace bush had a couple big ones already.

The packers second round pick just tied the record for longest return. Interesting about him he doesn't look particularly shifty as livas but took one hell of a hit and stayed on his feet
while taking it 108 yards.

I hate risking Bush but this is what he does best this could be another reason why they brought back LJ. You got to play Bush more on returns these type of big plays mean the difference between winning and losing.

I see more teams will run it out of the end-zone
regardless of the kickoff rules if you got the horses.

Way too early to make any concrete thoughts about the new kickoff rules and how they effect "big" plays on special teams.
Risking Bush would be a terrible idea based off one game's shootout on special teams.
Could be a total fluke, who knows.

just let him return one here and there. it would be great to see him go to the house and they will say " New Orleans not missing Bush but BB sure the heck isnt happy"

I don't think this game is indicative of much, it will still definitely hamper returns

We all know Goodell will be using this as leverage now! I'm still not happy about the Change.

Hope those guys at the bottom of our roster can play some ST

HATE to lose like that again. Our D is better. Thier O is better. May come down to that again..

Bring back LIVAS

Maybe if our return game starts sucking hopefully we will bring back Livas. There are a quite a number of players we can cut to bring Livas back. We even brought L. Johnson back. Heck, we could even cut Johnson when Thomas returns.

Kick off and punt returns seem to have a low priority since Teddy left.

Maybe Gates can do something special.

Gates looks a little scared to be honest returning..
I cant blame him it takes a lot of guts to run into a crowd
running at you with a full head of steam..

I think gates feels more comfortable in the passing game.

Returners should be somebody who likes to do it has no fear
borderline crazy helps
receivers maybe quicker
running backs can take a hit or break more tackles..

You wan to have that threat that can take it to the house
while sure handed nobody is worried about nolan carrol or bess.

reggie bush aint returning punts, if by any chance our returner goes down to injury than reggie might step in just for a game but theres no way sparano is going to risk his featured running back in punt returns, sproles is a backup, bush is our starting running back. Reggie has already confirmed it himself in an interview, hes on the depth chart as a "backup punt returner". With all that said, i still cant believe we cut livas. Theres space on this roster where livas could have squeezed in.

I'm not so sure at all. A lot of teams have Ks who have a problem w/getting distance on their KOs. MIAMI is one of them!!! We all saw it in the preseason.

Not everyone has a S JANIKOWSKY (sp?).

Reggie is gonna get some spot returns on punts . . . if nothing but to force the punter to kick away and maybe gain yards that way. But yea, Reggie won't be the primary guy on punts.
