I have a question about spiking...why isnt intentional grounding? ..the qb is between the tackles with no elligible receiver in a reasonable position.

and kneeling down..i think the NFL should ban, i believe all teams should run a legit play instead of running clock out.

Football allows you to take one step back to spike the ball. Any more and it's intentional grounding. As for kneeling, just ask the Giants why it shouldn't be banned.

one thing to remember is that a QB has to be under center to spike the ball.

if hes in the shotgun (or a holder 7 yards away from the center on a FG) and spikes it, it is called intentional grounding and that is a spot foul with a 10 second run off if its under 2 min.

some teams dont take knees. but espn likes to show a flash back to that one play where the guy fumbles and returned it for a TD to win the game... lol

to each their own...but i never liked kneeling, even if miami did it. But thanks for the answer on spiking.

I bet Jerome Bettis was hoping Pittsburgh had taken a knee at the end of their divisional playoff game last year. Heck, I bet Vanderjagt wish they had too. If they had, he wouldn't have looked like such a jack ***.

I think that was Herm Edwards that returns it for a TD

what is a "legit play" in your book? you're going to force a team to had the ball off or throw the ball? having the rules control the playbook is not good. a kneel is a real play; you snap the ball, you down the ball, you lose yards.
