I agree completely.
In time, he'll move up to Top 5.

He has that rare blend of toughness, but also likeability.
He's not just a mean SOB.
He's genuinely liked by his players, and they WANT to do well for him. He relates to them very well, while still maintaining his authority as "Head Coach" (not just friend).

Cam = was too much "friendly", and not enough tough.
Saban = was too much "mean", and not enough likeable.
Wanny = was too much "dumb", and not enough smart.

After 1 year they have him in front of 20 other NFL head coaches.. thats impressive.

Definately dont agree with Sean Peyton at 6, nor do alot of Saints fans. He belongs below 15

That is strange, Payton and mangini have almost identical records but Payton is at 6 and Mangini at 25.

I'd multi-quote if i knew how.

Payton is up there because of community involvement and for some reason people didn't see the talent on that team.

There's a lot of talent to work with there and for some reason the media thinks they did so much with so little.....makes no sense.

I'd rank Tomlin and Fisher ahead of Andy Reid, and I'd rank Tomlin ahead of Coughlin. I'd also rank Sporano ahead of Payton and Childress.

I think they are giving Payton credit for his rookie yr when they went deep in the playoffs. Mangini hasn't won a playoff game. But I agree 6 is too high for a coach that hasn't done anything since that playoff run.

Also, the NFC was HORRIBLE that season. His team wouldn't have made the playoffs in the AFC.

Tremendous assesment. I love it.:lol2:

This list is crazy.......Dick Jauron at 18? He lost at least two games last yr all by himself, while Buffalo was fighting for a playoff spot.....then you have Norv Turner and Wade Phillips in the top 15? Norv had one good yr in the playoffs and that was last yr. If it wasn't for the Broncos falling apart the Chargers are home watching the playoffs not to mention I think they won the division at 8-8. Then they have Jim Mora JR at 19 who hasn't coached a game yet but have him ahead of Lovey Smith who has been to the Super Bowl. What about Marvin Lewis? If he coached for any team who cared about winning more than saving a buck he would be unemployed right now. The only reason he still has a job is his contract........I would have him last.

I'm not liking this list at all.....but thanks for posting, good find, gives us something to talk about until tranining camp.

Lewis took the Bengals to the playoffs (the Bengals![!]!). Before Palmer blew out his knee, they looked like a team on the upswing. I'm not saying he's done a stellar job, but to say he's last is a bit much.

he made the playoffs in his 1st year and if he was in the NFC he may have made a title game too.

I agree, and I would have Fisher maybe as high as 3rd. He always does more with less. And how in the world is Mike Smith so freaking high?? What has he done. They had more talent than we had last year coming off a better season, a better QB, OL, RB, WR, DL and secondary, yet the whole football world is in love with him and TS is 12th?? I can't freaking wait to go up there and smack Mike Smith and the overrated falcons in the mouth, in their house, opening week. There is no way we lose this game.

Mangini has also managed to piss off a tremendous (:d-day:) amount of people in the NFL.

Payton's biggest gaffe was signing Shockey. I loved watching that clip of Brees screaming at that vacuum brain...
