Sporting News: NFL DRAFT: Mueller, Cameron hope to reverse Miami's draft fortunes

MIAMI -- Mired in the longest playoff drought in franchise history, the Miami Dolphins have endured plenty of bad days during the past six years.
Some of the worst occurred in late April.

Bad drafts are the primary reason the Dolphins are 19-29 over the past three years and without a postseason appearance since 2001. Only four players drafted in 2002-04 remain on the roster, and the most recent draft choice to make the Pro Bowl was receiver Chris Chambers, a 2001 pick.


"It will be the biggest day for the Dolphins every year," Mueller said. "This is a chance for us to build our team more in two days -- 48 hours -- than all the other days in the year."


Mueller and Cam are going to get it done folks, and they are going to get it done through the draft. The draft is the best way to stay young and ultimately keep your salary cap in line. I believe Wayne has finally got the right two guys in place. No dictators, no little Napoleons, just exceptional professionals that know the business of football.
 
I like the moves made by Mueller and Cam so far. I think we have to keep as many of our picks as we can and not trade away picks for questionable guys. I do think that Brady Quinn would be worth trading up for should he be available around the 6th pick. After this I just hope we can find guys who are going to be impact players and have a chance to start. I think we have to draft for NEED and not just go with the BPA. Build our O-line, get a quality d-back, maybe a TE, and start making smart decisions for once. :rolleyes2

I think that you build a draft board according to your need and fitting.

If we lack of LT, then a good LT should have a mayor value than a DE, but a deficient LT can't be as much as a sure starter at any position.

So BPA is best player available according to several variables, and you evaluate who's BPA at the moment of the pick, knowing how worth is each player.

I do too. we brought in g uys that can do the EXACT same job as our POS players we let go that were making first team money wehre as these guys do the same job for a lot less and can kill time whiile we draft players. I love hte move! ive been waiting for a logn time for this ****.

Nah. I am against trading up and losing valuable first day picks that we need to fix our OL and WR corps.

Just draft Tedd Ginn Jr at #9, use both of our 2nd rounders and couple them to move up twice into the bottom of the 1st round and select Staley with one and Kolb, Edwards, or Beck with the other.

Quinn isn't any better than Kolb IMO. Same except Kolb has a quicker release.

Mr Ed,i've been saying the same things for months,,,ginn gives the offense defense and special teams an immediate lift,,,move up in the late first to grab the next best o lineman,,,,add ricky williams and a healthy daunte and all of a sudden we just turned a weakness into a strength.

Imagine this,,Daunte lines up over the center with ricky and ronnie in the backfield,,,SETTT!! CHAMBERS STARTS IN MOTION WITH GINN ON THE OUTSIDE,,,,HUT,HUT,,,DAUNTE DROPS BACK AND.........?
 
Miami's last 2 drafts under Saban were solid... This "reversing fortunes" is pertaining to the Wannstedt/Spielman era. Saban had already started Miami on the right path towards building through the draft.

wow still counting on Culpepper huh, even though he is ready to be dealt any day now by certain rumours goin round. hmmmm, very interesting.


And Mueller would go down in dolphin Bust history should he take Ted Ginn at 9.

I sure would like to see Culpepper be successful in a Fins uniform this year, it would be the best for our team and him as a player. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the Fins are going to give him a chance to prove it.
