Sports Buzz: Monday afternoon report

I think he made the right call not to go for it at the end of the half. They were backed up and not doing anything offensively. Got the ball back in the 3rd quarter and made it a one possession game for about 10 secs.... thanks kick off team. That pretty much stole the momentum.

He gave away a possession in a game where the team was down by more than one score.

That's bad coaching.

“We had 45 yards of offense, three sacks, the last thing I wanted to do was go into halftime down 16-0,” he said. “I told Bill I want to run the ball every single one and go into the locker-room and make some adjustments and get it to a one-possession game, which we did twice in the third quarter. I think it was the right thing to do.

“My job is to put the team in position to win the game. I had no thoughts were going to throw an interception but if we didn’t get a first down, we would be punting the ball, giving them great field position. Somebody else could have a different opinion. That’s OK.”…

Not even Wannstache and Sparano coached this scared...

Agreed

I understand running it with 2:21 to go and backed up at our 12 yard line. But once RT17 got the 1st down at 26 with 52 seconds and 3 timeouts you have to try to score.
Even after Miller got a second 1st down at the 41 you have to call a timeout and at least try to throw a hail mary from the 41

That reminded me of Sporano.

Nah, Sparano would have at least played for a fist-pumpin' FG!

Philbin has surpassed even the notorious Dave Wannstedt & Tony Sparano when it comes to meek, timid coaching!

It's also gutless as all ****. Philbin coaches scared and I ****ing hate coaches who coach scared more than anything in football. It's one of the biggest reasons I absolutely despise Dave Wannschmuck, and why, to this day, I still refuse to refer to him by his actual name.

No Jamaal Charles would be helpful...

Charles has 23 carries on 9 yards. I hesitate to say this because I will assuredly look like a fool, but playing hobbled behind a terrible offensive line, Jamaal Charles does not scare me the way he did coming into the season. The problem for Miami in this game will be covering Travis Kelce and Anthony Fasano, and whether or not Alex Smith makes us pay with his legs.

If Ryan Tannehill goes out and plays with comfort and anticipation this week, I think we match up very well with the Chiefs. We just have to show up with the same poise and intensity we had in week one, and not the flat, quitter's garbage we got Sunday.

The "Miami showing up" thing is what worries me. This team always seems to **** up in one way or another and not have all its ducks in a row at the same time.

Our offensive output is pitiful. Even Sherman's offense had more chunk yardage. Its 95% on Tannehill right now though. Find receivers down field and extend plays with the legs.

The chiefs had a very effective running game vs the donkeys. They rushed for 133 yards and 2 TD's. This allowed them to control time of possession. But they only scored 17 which isn't enough to beat the donkeys. That same game plan could be enough to best us. Without pressure from the D Line this could be similar to the 1st half vs Bills
