* Seems like there are some reasonable fits in the FA or draft to upgrade.
* I agree a lot with Jackson questioning whether to re-sign Odrick and keep Misi. A good guy, Odrick is invisible. Misi is not healthy and to think he returns in better health next year is silly.
* I see some wide-bodied DT's to help vs the run.
* Dion Jordan should be allowed to slim down and play LB.
* Wheeler should be cut Post June 1 designation and that money can be used to sign the draft picks.
* I like the idea of FA CB.
* I do not want Jimmy Wilson back.
* I am not sure what to do at safety just yet.

* Barry's best point is who exactly is going to be the decision maker.

A final note…it is alarming how much this defense has regressed under Kevin Coyle. I wonder what another DC could do with this group.

I agree on Odrick. Like the guy, but he just hasn't proven to be an impact player.
Misi is not on the field enough
I'm tossed on Wheeler. Terrible player, but we will need depth and not much upside by cutting him.
Definitely should be active in the FA market to help the DL and CB. Maybe even LB.

I think our main issue on defense has been depth. With our starters in, we are a formidable group.......but the fall off when the backups started to be injected into the lineup is way too big of a gap.

Can you imagine Rex Ryan coaching this team as he would bring in David Harris to play the MIKE, Dawan Landry to play opposite of Jones? Finally, Rex and Revis have a professional love affair with each other. Would Revis want to come to Miami and be joined with the coach he loves…granted for a ton of money?

Players like Jordan, Jones and Mitchell would take additional two or three steps in their career under Rex.

Do I think Rex Ryan will be coach? No. However, I do think it would be a great move fwd. for the Fins.

Now Hayden....Rex as DC, that would be great. But you know I think bringing him in as a HC is a terrible idea.

I would turn the defense over to him, no problem. But not the entire team

Plus, the team could keep Bill Lazor as OC. Tannehill would stay in his same offense for another year.

Rex getting hired would give a bounce to the rep of the Fins. He would immediately be the face of the franchise. His style would give confidence to the currently stiff culture Joe has created.

Finally, you all know that if Ryan was hired he would needle and stick it to the Jets every ****ing time they played….and I love that.

Three things I want out of the HC

1. I just want a HC that gives the team an intellectual advantage on Sundays.
2. I would like our HC to be a respected leader of men.

From Cam Cameron, to Tony Sparano to Joe Philbin, I have not felt our HC gives an advantage on game day. Tony did in 2008, then for some reason he turned into this conservative, play short guy. I had confidence that Nick Saban was a guy I was describing. However, he sold the franchise out and I will never forgive him for that. Wanny I did not believe in. Jimmy I did. Don Shula is in galaxy by himself. This team needs a new face to run the ship.

He would immediately be the face of the franchise..

That is a scary thought.

Rex has a .473 winning percentage with the Jets. Philbin is at .489. Philbin is 2-3 against the Patriots and during that same time Rex is 1-4. In head to head play, Joe is 3-2 against Rex while Rex is 2-3 against Philbin. Because he is a loud mouth doesn't make him a good coach or an upgrade. Eric Mangini and Herm Edwards both have better winning percentages with the Jets than Rex Ryan.

As stated however, I would take him as DC.

I'd like to see Lazor change his offense a bit. I want and think they need to see some "I" formations with a FB. It's no coincidence that Miami ranks so low in RZ TD's, and Philly ranks 28th, and pretty much the same offense. I know the NFL is geared towards passing, but sometimes you just gotta line it up and play smash mouth and right now Miami does not have that in the playbook.

As far as Coyle goes, he's just not creative enough as a DC. Very good DB coach, but needs to be more creative and he seems to want the talent to play to his scheme and not scheme to his talent.

I don't like Rex, don't want him here but would like to see a DC minded coach this go around. Bowles or Quinn would be my top choices.

It is about fit. The coach Miami is going against today had a tough finish in Cleveland. Rex has had some tough crap roll down on him lately. John Idzick killed any chance Rex has had in the past few weeks.

You cannot deny that the defense would be upgraded with him AND the idea of keeping RT in the same offense is appealing.

In fact, one the BEST reasons I can think of bringing Joe back is to keep the QB in the same offense for another year. It is very important to me that RT is not thrusted into another offense. A recipe for disaster.

Rex is never going to be someone's DC. He is a HC or a great talking head on TV.

I agree, he is HC or TV...I am just not a fan

The WR position Needs addressing also, not major but some tweaking. We cannot go next year with Wallace as a #1, just can't do it. Wallace can have a spot but we need a big body and that's why either Hartline or Gibson has to go.

What makes you think Philbin is gonna fire COYLE, would love it but I don't see it happening.

...I tend to agree. I really don't see what Rex brings to the field other than player loyalty and that mostly from the defensive side. His numbers , though, don't lie and from an intellectual advantage I am missing that side of his personna.

I do not think he'd fire Coyle. Joe stays, so does Kevin.

Vic Beasley or Eric striker at olb wouldn't change the run d results at all...Beasleys a wolb in a 34 not even a scheme fit and strikers best attribute is his edge rush speed albeit in a seriously undersized package...

Not sure why McCain isnt mentioned anywhere in there...he should be...potential long term starting strong olb there...although I got this feeling he may be one of those guys that in the offseason can find trouble...

At cb I like brandon flowers but I'm not sure he's a scheme fit...

Get the mike in the draft...I'd bring misi back for one more year...even at his current cap number...if he doesn't stay healthy next year he'd be gone in 2016 for me...but he wouldnt be my mike next season unless I had no choice...the mike options in free agency he listed are just too one dimensional

Wheeler and ellerbe cuts again no brainers...at dt 3 of those 4 guys they listed have been injured over the course of their careers...Williams the only one I think that's stayed healthy but that's a more 34 fit...dt in the draft is so risky I'd rather bring in a free agent than use a high pick on one at least til I study the class...

Cornerback ekpre olumu is the ideal fit...my primary target with our top pick already if it's corner due to the board not having the value at mike or physical size wr provided he gets there...that's plug and play folks

safety is gonna be tough but if Delmas is expected to be healthy I'd bring that back dirt cheap one year deal and tell Aiken he must put on some muscle and get stronger and more physical...otherwise at safety he will never hold up...
