Who cares what the press has to say... about ANYTHING? :p

I stopped betting on sports when i was a teenager.

I would bet money that they win at least 5 games.

But, that said...

There is no reason for ANYONE who is not a Dolphin fan or related to any Dolphins players or coaches to expect wins.

They have a rookie head coach and have not been in the playoffs since the 2008 season.
They made the playoffs in 2016.

My take on this in entirely pragmatic... I think it's "good" the expectations are so low for
this team for several reasons -- starting with the fact we have a "rookie" coaching staff that is
NOT being held to lofty expectations (due to the perceived lack of talent on the roster).
In addition, we have a significant number of "unproven's" on our roster that make the
perceived "hole" larger than reality (because some of these dudes are destined to prove
they belong in the NFL).

Beyond that -- all that really matters is (a) Rosen and (b) if this coaching staff (specifically Fores)
is THE ANSWER -- and if both of those questions get affirmative answers we're into an entirely
different territory.

IMO anyone hangin' 'round this board this time of year pretty much KNOWS what it takes to
succeed in the NFL. Coaching + QB + FO = WINNER! (or loser).

For now, the only legit choice as a "fan" is to be optimistic we have addressed that equation
and have the pieces of the puzzle (at least 67%) in place to formulate a NEW era for this team...

Bottom line -- IF ??? the staff and FO are ready for prime time -- we WILL solve the remaining
questions (and let's hope Rosen is the solution).

If 67% of the that is not true...

Whatever.

It's about progression and some semblance of a return to fundamental football, something to build a foundation on. A identity.

Oh my......

Throwing out percentages like candy on Halloween..........

This seems to be one of the quicker ways to get a thread to deteriorate into anarchy.......

It couldn’t be more obvious that they are in a full tank - and good on them - all the tweaking over the years got us nowhere - but overspending in free agency - and over valuing average players

Burn it down and build from the ground - and hopefully Rosen shows them something

At least the quarterback position will be interesting this year. I was tired of hearing each and every year that this is the year Tannehill breaks out. He just never progressed past that injury and also his ability to read the pocket or a defense. Just a slightly better version of Chad Henne.

There's nothing in that argument that suggests that the Fins are in better shape coaching wise, unless you really put alot of weight into "the bar is exeedingly low"... The Fins roster as is, regardless of coaching, is not well suited to pass the ball efficiently and sure as hell aint gonna scare any opposing OC when it comes to stoping them from from passing efficiently.

So in reality, no matter how low you think the bar was with the previous coaching staff, it really doesnt matter at this point... If you want wins, you'll need a great coaching staff, not one that merely surpasses the previous one... Considering they're all rookies in their current positions, you really have nothing to stand on.
Such pessimism. Look, all long-term fans have been scarred by the last 20 years and by FistPump, Philbin, and Gase - in order. I get that. Throw in Ireland and Baum and it gets worse. And, I'll admit, I have no guarantees anything will go right, just as you have no guarantees all your pessimism will prove accurate.

Here is something every fan knows (I'm making numbers up). About a third of rookies/FAs will turn out worse than expected, a third will be about as expected, and a third will turn out better than expected. The problem is, nobody knows which ones will inhabit which group. Coaching is more of a guess. The staff will either be good or bad. Again, no one knows which group they will inhabit. I choose to see possibilities. You seem to choose 'nothing will go right.' Again, I get that. Come December, we'll have quite a bit of evidence.

I don't think I will be surprised by just 3 wins, but neither will I be surprised if we got 10. No real idea what to expect from this group yet.
