i wish the media would stop whining about saban not giving out info

Media Complaints about Saban

I guess when you have nothing else to write about (or aren't capable of thinking of content unless it is spoon-fed to you through a Saban soundbite) then Saban being tight-lipped would hurt you.

I fully support Saban being tight-lipped to 1) keep his team's focus on what HE wants, not what the media hype puts into everyone's mind 2) keep a competitive advantage so other teams do not know all our tendencies, plays, objectives, etc.

You go Nick. This is a media culture as it is and we get plenty to discuss without him having to give us every thought and fact that goes on in the Dolphins organisation.

You can't really blame them, though. It means they'd have to actually work to get material for their stories, and who wants to do that?

Ya know, I believe all it would take for Saban to open up some line of communication with the media, is for one of them to become savy enough to gain an understanding of the "Process" he is implementing.

He is as much about his "Process" Tool, as he is about his football team. If they would only learn about the process, and ask questions using Quality (QI) buzz words he would sing like a canery.

You are 1000% Right

Nick is very process-oriented. I have noticed that when reporters stop trying to "take" the info THEY need from Saban, and start meeting him on his own ground by using his language and asking him questions to explain it, then he opens up. When the media show sincere interest in how *Nick* wants to run things instead of demanding things from him that he doesn't want to give them, then he gets less contrarian.

He's not unlike Parcells, in some ways. Parcell's just doesn't use the buzzwords.

 Oh! Parcells knows some buzzwords. They just can't be repeated in print or allowed over the airwaves.

I've met the man. In the early seventies he was an assistsant coach at FSU. He was meaner than a rattlesnake and unapproachable. He was there when 28 of the FSU players walked off the team.
